This hotel has a beautifull view of the winelands and Douro river near Peso da Regua. Design rooms which are really nice but the curtains were destoyed (why not exchanged??) hotel was a little crowded by families with a lot of childern.

This hotel has everything one could ask for - most beautiful views, good accomodations, beautiful spa and restaurant that serves very good food. The hotel is surrounded by vineyards, sits on top of a mountain with sweeping views over the Douro river valley. From the pool area you have all the view towards the Douro river. This is our second time at the hotel and, if posdible, I will return.

To start with positives- the neighbourhood is stunning! And good breakfast... however...
... apart from really nice location and good design, In the main hall, the rooms, the spa and swimming pools are a bit of disappointment.
1) Our room was not cleaned properly (in attachment the photo of what I saw opening the tioilete- first impression).
2) We were hungry so I’ve ordered the specials of the kitchen to the room ( room service):
14€ hamburger ( called kitchen chef special)
10€ spaghetti
Both meals not 5 star meal, rather cheap McDonald’s quality.
3) the personnel not 5 star... - no comment on that...

Rooms were roomy and open. Had nice view of pool area and Douro Valley. Staff was a little up tight and not very accommodating. The restaurant was not very inviting and nearly empty at all hours of prime dining. The hotel was full due to the cycling event weekend.

This is a five-star hotel and certainly is stylish and attractive. The hotel is based on an old quinta but most rooms are in modern buildings. This is all architect-designed but over-designed making the rooms and hotel itself harder to use than they should be. Moving around the hotel requires a lot of moving up/down stairs (or lifts). In the rooms the bed and some facilities are located in the centre of the room: we walked around that central area very many times. To compound the problem there was no bedside light or table. No kettle available
Service at dinner was quite slow but the meal was fine. The breakfast buffet was 'okay', only, but with less choice than usual.
The views are superb - but this means it is isolated and remote. Our room was in the rear block so our view was partially obstructed by another block, which is a shame.
The indoor pool is dark and dingy. I guess this might be welcome in the height of summer but if the weather is grey this is not appealing.
