We have just returned from a fantastic week at this hotel. It has everything you need for the perfect relaxing break, fantastic views and beautiful sunsets. The hotel is set on a very steep hill so would not suit everyone but there is a lift up and down to the rooms and beach. We loved the beach and the pool area, lovely sun beds and no rush to get one even later in the day. The food was very good in the buffet restaurant, something different everyday and you could also dine once in the Greek and Italian restaurants included in your all inclusive package.
All the staff were very friendly and obliging but a special mention to the waitress at the pool bar during the evening entertainment. The seating area could be guide cramped due to guests moving furniture around but she managed to get to everybody and always served efficiently and with a lovely smile. Well done, sorry we didn't get your name!
I have given this hotel an excellent rating but I nearly only gave very good as there is one negative that I feel I have to mention. We were later arriving than anticipated due to a flight delay so were anxious to get to the lovely sea view room we had booked many months ago. Unfortunately upon checking in we were informed that our room would not be available until 2.00pm next day due to a problem with a pipe. Although not at all happy about this we had to accept it and were then taken to our temporary room. Oh dear!! What a terrible room, smelt awful, window faced a wall below a walkway so very dark. This was not how I had hoped to start our holiday. We did get our booked room next day with a "surprise" from the hotel as compensation. The "surprise" was a bottle of red wine and some fruit. Considering we were all inclusive this did not really amount to compensation. I have noted a few previous reviews where guests have had the same problem and we witnessed another couple the day we were leaving being told the same thing. I think this hotel deliberately double books sea view rooms.
The hotel itself is lovely but my room experience would put me off returning.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are a must at this hotel

Had never taken our children on a hotel holiday always villas but thought we'd give it a go All Inclusive. We had a wonderful holiday, hotel amazing, clean and boutique feeling. Staff couldn't do more for you, beach and pool area lovely. Gods choice of food. Will definitely be going back.

We were very pleased with our stay here, having stayed in many 5 * hotels this has been my best experience, food is good quality with plenty of choice and good a la carte option available. Alcoholic selection is good, animation team brilliant. The only down side is after and before the evening entertainment which is on for about an hour and a half it is fairly quiet could do with some music here. There are also a lot of wasps around and if you are the kind of person who wants to explore a lot this is tricky as you have to get a bus to nearest town as it's up a steep hill and there's not a lot there. If you like to stay in hotel and visit the beach then this is perfect. Activities round pool in the day and a shop on site. I would certainly recommend this hotel rooms lovely and everyone very friendly and happy to help!

We stayed for one week at the Mayor Pelekas Monastery from Aug' 28 to Sep' 4. We booked this hotel through TUI in December 2016, and paid £5500 for 8 people (4 adults, 4 kids) all inclusive. Great value considering the hotel.
I will begin with the positives...
The cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel is perfect. The whole hotel grounds were mostly spotless with minor faults here and there.
The food in all 4 restaurants was very good quality and (mostly) varied each day. The waiters in the restaurants were very helpful and kind, Breakfast in the Petra restaurant was average, offering the same food and drink Every. Single. Day...
Though the food quality was very good.
There are 2 A La Carte restaurants, which are called the 'Olive Tree', a Greek restaurant, and the 'Pergola', an Italian restaurant. They both serve exceptional food, and have very kind, proud waiters and waitresses, and you can visit each restaurant once during your stay if you are all inclusive. There is also a public 'open beach bar' called 'Tortuga' which serves very, very good food, but at higher prices, and is not included in the all inclusive.
The site upon which the hotel was situated upon was absolutely incredible with breath-taking views and absolutely stunning sunsets. The hotel was positioned at the bottom of a very steep, very big hill; requiring a 5 minute (free) bus ride to the top, operating 3-4 times every hour from 7:30 until 22:30, daily.
The private beach was very good with soft, fine sand and mostly calm, clear and blue seawater. There were water-sports on offer at the beach (Pelekas Water-Sports), which featured a wide range of activities ranging from pedal boats (€10) to Para-Sailing (€90) and Motor-boat hire (€50 per hour).
But, the lifeguards on the beach and at the pool are very, very lazy spending their days on their phones and talking to staff at the bar. Not acceptable, at all.
The pool and beach feature many sunbeds, so there are no fights early in the morning about who gets what. The hotel has no indoor pool, but a very nice outdoor pool, The temperature of the water in the swimming pool is perfect on a hot day, but chilly at times, with a pool bar just feet from the water.
The hotel reception staff are very kind and helpful, making sure we enjoyed our stay.
The rooms are well maintained but quite small, if you have more than 4 people per room, don't book one room, book 2, unless you want to sleep on a 1 inch thick mattress on a very narrow sofa-bed with a freezing cold air-conditioner blasting into your face.
Now on to the few negatives...
The all inclusive drinks in the bars are below average standard, with cheap, greek, watered-down brands of spirits, instead of branded spirits. The cocktails are so terrible, they are not even cocktails, they are mixed, watery and not very alcoholic drinks. There is no finesse while the barmen are making them, the drinks are simply an already made mixture of fruit juice and cheap alcohol. The non-alcoholic cocktails are rammed full of artificial colours and sugar, while the soft drinks are probably a non-branded knockoff version of real branded drinks. For example, the iced frappes are watery and made with instant coffee, the "cold" chocolate is just a hot chocolate with a few ice cubes in it, and the "Coca-Cola" is tasteless and watery, almost as if the mixture had not been measured properly. But, if you pay for the non all inclusive drinks, they are much higher quality, and made with real alcohol, they are expensive though, 5 euros for a kids cocktail, served in a small disposable cup. I would expect better drinks at a 2/3 star hotel, not a '5 star' hotel. The house beer is terrible, tasting of nothing and very weak. However, the wine is okay, and the coffee at breakfast is very nice.
Most of the barmen are very moody and very unhelpful, however 'Patricia' the barmaid was very, very kind and helpful, actually putting care into her work and making everyone happy, please give her some credit.
Sometimes, we would walk into our room and smell a strong scent of eggy sewage, which was projected throughout the building. And, speaking of bad smells, the pesticide used on the plants smells very bad and off-putting.
There is a problem with wasps, especially in the very hot, muggy summer months, but I cannot fault the hotel as it is an issue across the whole island of corfu, so if you are afraid of wasps, or allergic to stings, avoid going to Corfu in August.
And then there are other small issues, such as there being no dedicated entertainment area, the wifi being slow, and the fact that there are a LOT of steps and there is a LOT of walking involved.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at the Mayor Pelekas Monastery, and we might consider visiting again. We thank all of the kind staff who made an effort to make our holiday an unforgettable family holiday. Especially all of the restaurant staff, the reception staff, the animation team and Patricia, the barmaid.
This is overall, a good hotel, but does not deserve 5 stars, maybe 4/4.5.

Room Tip: Sea View rooms have a bigger and better balcony. Rooms further away from the evening entertainment are quieter.
