The resort is about 12 years old. It is at 2 H driving from Colombo Int Airport. All rooms are with sea view. They are very big and nice and well kept. Wifi is good. Staff is very friendly and kind. Nice beach, small pool. Breakfast average, dinner ok. It offers BB, HB and All Inclusive. The resort gives a good value for money.

Our flight, transfers and accommodation for our trip to Sri Lanka was booked and arrange through Emirates Holidays. On arrival in Sri Lanka we were taken to our airconed minivan for our transfer to our resort in Beruwala. It was a 2 hour journey from the airport to the Eden Resort and Spa in Beruwala. At no stage during the journey did our driver offer us any water to drink even though we had just got off a flight where we were not allowed to bring any liquids in our hand luggage. It was also extremely hot and humid and a cold bottle of water would have been a very welcome and kind gesture. Our driver took the coastal route, so we were able to see the ocean for most of the drive. The scenery was breath taking. At least 10 days prior to our departure our travel agent emailed the Eden resort and spa to request inter-leading rooms and rooms in a quiet section of the resort. She received no response from the resort. If only we knew that this would be just the beginning of a nightmare stay at this resort. The Eden Resort and Spa is definitely not a 4 or 5 star resort. We have stayed at many resorts in India, China, Phuket, Malaysia and Hong Kong, but this was by far the worst experience we have ever had. Firstly the rooms were not clean, there were cockroaches and the air conditioner gave off a damp, mouldy smell. We complained, but since we left the hotel early each morning for our tours and only returned at about 9 pm, we never seemed to get the same staff on duty. After our complaints fell on deaf ears we decided to cut one of our tours short to ensure that we could first deal with the room issues. We demanded to see the manager and got him to first check the computer to see the list of complaints that we had registered. Thereafter we took him up to the rooms to inspect it. He had to agree that the cleanliness and the awful smell were unbearable. He then got house- keeping to address the problem and clean the air filters of the aircon. The problem was resolved in my room 307, but not in my sister room 308. The hotel's solution was then to mask the foul odour, by putting on glade air fresheners in the room. My sisters then resolved to not use the aircon at all, but rather to open the balcony doors. This was problematic, as the squirrels then came into the room. On our last day the manager said they would see what they could do about changing my sister's room. At this stage it really was too late. The other gripe we had was that our rooms were allocated close to the pool and bar and we were only able to sleep after 1 am in the morning because of the live band that played every night. We had to leave most mornings at 5 am for our day tours. So we were forced to survive on 3 hours sleep a day. The beaches are red flagged at this time of year, which meant we could not swim in the ocean. We would definitely not recommend this resort to anyone and avoid room 308 at all costs. I sincerely hope that Emirates Holidays would review their recommendation of this hotel and would address our concerns with the resort, so that another family does not have to have same experience that we had.

We are always hard at work to make sure our team delivers on our brand promise and every customer has a positive experience.We will take your feedback into account as we work toward improving the way we do business.

Please allow me to address several issues highlighted in your feed back:
We have not received any email to our hotel as you mentioned. Your reservation we got it on the 12th July 2017, Booking no; FIT00019498 accordingly we have allocated your rooms. Also at the arrival we provide only the important information by the front desk. If not it takes a long time to brief 11 page Directory of service which is available in the room for your easy references.

You have complained regarding the room AC after occupied for 3 days. I am extremely sorry, yes there was a sudden technical fault with the Ac and also a bad smell. The Maintenance department attended immediately and according to our records it was fixed in 55 minutes. Our Assistance FOM apologized for the inconvenience occurred as you declined the room change.

Sorry if you were disturb by the live band. We have live band only Wednesday & Saturday not everyday as you mentioned. Also we stop the music at Mid night or earlier,according to Sri Lankan law we cant have music till 1 am.

Yes I agree with you red flag is on mostly during the off season. The season begins soon till then for the guest safety we have to display it. Just to inform you, in Sri Lanka in the southern coast not a single hotel owns a private beach , its a public beach.

We would appreciate the opportunity to make this right, but can only do so if you give us a second chance. Thank you for providing honest feedback. Knowing where we are missing the mark helps us tackle our weaknesses as we strive to be better every single day.

We stayed here for 3 days and it was a very comfortable stay. Rooms were clean. The pool area was beautiful and the staff was cooperative and polite. The buffet breakfast and food at the other cafes was also good.

I went with my family for a holiday getaway. Once of our most wanted destination for last 5 years which we couldn't go.

Enjoyed the stay and pool area and uncommon shape of the hotel gave us a better view in sea / and land too.

We have recently returned from a great holiday adult this hotel. The best bit about this hotel for us were the staff. They were all so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. They would often ask if everything was ok with the hotel so any issues can be easily resolved (not that we had any!) We were staying on an all inclusive basis and on our first day the general manager held a meeting for us to explain what was included and what wasn't. He also informed us about the facilities available to us which was really helpful.
The pool was really big and clean and the water was warm.
We ate in the buffet restaurant most nights. The variety was good. We were given a complimentary evening meal in the Temptations restaurant which was also very good. As we were AI the days we were out on trips they arranged a packed breakfast and or lunch so you don't have to worry about missing a meal that you've paid for.
The evening entertainment was good. They have a beach party each week. There was also Octoberfest and Halloween parties which was well organised by Silva. These events were ticket only. The price depended on which basis you were staying in. The cost included free beer and buffet. We had a great time but we wondered why AI guests needed to pay as it
seemed we were paying twice.
The beach was beautiful but is public so there are no sunsets there but the gardens are really good. The sunbed men were always there to find you a good spot in the sun or the shade.
I would definitely recommend this hotel as we had a fantastic holiday there.
