Within 4 hours of checking in the owner had reduced our 11 year old son to tears, and had a stand up row with me in reception in front of other guests, which resulted in our children being so frightened they insisted on barricading their door at night. His 'crime' was that in exploring his new surroundings, he went through an open door in the reception area (not marked private or no-entry etc) onto a balcony which connected to the balcony of his room, so on a couple of occasions he climbed over between the two (ground floor). Had the owner asked us to stop him doing that, there would not have been an issue. Instead, from our room we heard a lot of shouting in reception, and our son come into us in tears, before the owner then started shouting at us on our balcony from the hotel steps, and when we I went to speak to him in reception, he continued shouting at me in front of other guests, telling us we should leave and write what we think on our review, but when I tell him how rude and aggressive he is being, he says he doesn't speak English, and storms off. Not a day went past without us hearing and seeing him shouting across the gardens at one or other staff members, shattering the tranquillity.

It really is such a shame, as the Hotel is nice and the surroundings very pleasant. The manageress was also lovely and very professional, and I imagine, used to having to deal with the owner's aggressive behaviour. You might want to consider if this is the right place for you if you have children between 5 and 15.

Greetings from Fiori Hotel in Corfu island.
Dear Guest "NiggyJ65"
although I always encourage my Guests to leave their feedback comment
about their stay in Fiori and, I am always pleased to see new reviews
added in many of the internet platforms used, It was really sad to
have read your comments and thoughts shared about
your experience with Fiori hotel and especially its owner.

It sads me because I have to state clearly how things happened and, unfortunately,
I have to describe it from my point and leave the readers draw their own conclusions.
It is also sad to have seen your description of the height of the 2 balconies as
ground floor, since the height is over 1.90cm and, the 2 balconies are not connected, not adjoined and certainly not suitable for any leap/jump or any
careless and dangerous action.
I have taken some photos in order to show the exact point of where
this incident took place, but, unfortunatelly cannot attach to the text.

I discard your own comment when describing your 11 year old son's actions as "crime", and, I will continue by saying that your negligence could result to a serious injury of your 11 year old son while at the same time his actions could set a bad example for the rest of our children guests.

What you descibe as "exploring" the new surroundings was actually
jumping from the balcony of their Room ( shared with his sister )
to a balcony which, faulty stated, is not connected or adjoined with theirs,
situated to one of the rear entrances of the hotel's Reception area,
a common area, which we have no reason to characterize
as private or no-entry as you comment and, surely we could have never
thought that someone will use his balcony in order to jumb and entry
that door, especially an unattended 11 year boy, not only once,
but as you clearly admit, on a couple of occasions, one of which,
being out of the pool, dripping water and attempting again to go
back into his room, not from the door, as normal, but again
from one balcony to his room balcony !

That was the moment when the owner and, legally responsible person for
all the Hotel, Guests & Personel's well-being, saw this behaviour taking place
for more than once, while being wet from the pool and the danger of slipping off
was great, felt the seriousness of the action, saw that the child was unsupervised
and acted fast by preventing this from happening again, using the greek language
and an intensive tone in his voice in order to show to the child,
how serious this was and that it would not be permitted another time.
His duty is to protect Guests from inappropriate behaviour and since you failed
in parenting and guarding your 11 year old son, the owner was left
with no other choise than to stop this dangerous behaviour,
while he could also ask you to leave the premises due to the severity of the action.

You also state that the owner only had to ask the boy to stop doing that
and, everything would have been avoided.
Could you please ask yourself this, should the owner ask the boy,
before or, after he would have slipped and fallen to the ground,
injured with no one realizing it but only when it would be too late ?
Ask yourself then, what actions would you have taken in order to
have someone to blame for your son's accident ?

I must admit that I had been informed of the incident,
right after it took place and I immediately contacted and apologised
on behalf of the owner, only for the tone he used and for not
being able to communicate in a correct engish language and,
I believe that no one from the personel or the owner,
drove your children to barricade themselves into their room.
I have been into this industry of turism for over 22 years now and,
I have never treated any of my Guests in other way
than politeness and fairness so, I have tried to solve this situation
in the best possible way having in mind only the welfare of the child and,
by asking you to leave the hotel or,
to continue the state or argument between you and the owner
would not benefit either participant !!!
I would prefer that you would have the chance to enjoy the
Hotel's surroundings and staff without having to deal with
all the shouting and noise which shattered the tranquility
of both your stay and the hotel's.

The room definitely needs renovation, the bathroom was not very nice and the room was not cleaned correctly. The balcony door was not closing as the lock was broken. We have signaled the issue at our arrival and the person at the reception told us that it will be repaired within 2 days maximum. Unfortunately, 7 days later nothing was repaired. This is the main reason of my 3 stars.

However, the staff is very friendly, the hotel looks very nice from outside, it has a big and nice swiming pool and a bar open late in the night (with a very friendly barman)

I can recommend this hotel for a person that is not a cleanliness maniac and accept that the rooms are quite old. Otherwise, it is a descent hotels for the price you pay.

it was really nice to have found your comments and review on your stay
in Fiori hotel.
As being a standard, family run 3* hotel, we try our best to offer our services
and we always attend to any matter if and when occurs.
I would also like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the
mentioned broken lock of the balcony door, but, technicians can be really
hard to find during high season, although this is not an excuse.
As for the mentioned, not properly cleaned bathroom, I would like to point out
that, all of our bathroms were renovated prior to the beginning of the 2017 season and,
we never had any bad comments about our lack in cleanliness or,
our chambermaid services so, we will take all these under concideration
in order to avoid any future complaints.
We hope to see you again in the future so that we can prove to you that
we can do better and make your stay, memorable and perfect in every way.

Hotel Fiori was a great hotel for us. Super friendly people, great garden and swimming pool and great food! It was wonderfully quiet located in the green. The only downside was that it was not within walking distance of a village. The hotel has recently been refurbished very nicely, everything freshly painted and renewed. The garden and the pool was maintained very well. Every day our room was thoroughly cleaned. The lovely cook Aphrodite, asked us everyday what we would like to eat and then cooked the most delicious local Greek dishes for us. Jessica and Patrick

Room tip: Nice quit hotel with a beautiful garden and pool, great for relaxing.

We visited the fiori as a last minute couples holiday for my partner and I. We had a wonderful time in Corfu and found it was a very beautiful island. We especially enjoyed exploring it's many beaches and eating authentic greek food. However the Fiori, for the price we paid was a little dissapointing in some areas...

The Environment
Firstly finding the hotel is tricky- especially if arriving at night. It is off a main road but the sign not at all indicated by street lighting- just a shabby sign. The outside area of the hotel is very well maintained and it was nice to arrive in to. The lighting and pool bar atmosphere was very pleasant. Unfortunately their dog came bellowing at us on arriving back which was quite unpleasant for someone who doesn't like big dogs! The lady on reception-Irena was very pleasant in checking us in. She showed us to our room which wasn't as pleasing as the outside. We were expecting fairly basic but this was very basic. The beds were very hard and the general room in need of a refurb. Having said that it appeared well cleaned. Unfortunately there was a near constant unpleasant smell rising from the drains- eggy and generally disgusting. The walls were very thin so we found we were awoken most mornings by work men working out the back or by families with children screaming. The room was cleaned daily and this was done well. The bathroom was again basic, and the shower difficult to use as no wall fixture- plus with the smell it wasn't too pretty. There was a fully functioning old school TV. The rooms have AC, ours stopped working and was fixed promptly- although saying that it continuosly leaked over the balcony so probably needed more looking at! The rooms could do with a refurb it would seem.

Eating at Fiori
We paid an extra 6 euros a day for breakfast which was ok. The breakfast was very basic- cereals, toasts, yoghurts etc. They had a delicious greek yoghurt they served. My partner likes his eggs and they were always happy to cook some for him. Other than that there is no cooked variety offered. General meals were OK but we found it much better to eat out in surrounding areas. The food hall was a little unfriendly- there was such potential for more ambience with music or entertainment but there seemed little interest to make this happen.

Fiori in relation to the area
If you are going to stay in the fiori i would recommend taking a car which is what we chose to do. Coming from the airport to the fiori i was a little apprehensive as it isn't in the best area... you can't really walk to anywhere worthwhile nearby its just roads with limited pavements. There's a pharmacy and kebab place down the road but that's about it. We rented a car which the hotel receptionist kindly set up for us in a very easy fashion. We found 40 euros a day quite excessive as the car was a shabby old Suzuki. However we soon fell in love with it as we ventured up the rocky winding roads to Kalipa, Paleokastrisas and Corfu old Town.
The hotel has many steps and is on a windy old rocky road so I wouldn't recommend for those with mobility restrictions.
On our second night we wanted to find a great place to eat and so asked the owner. I found him quite abrupt and irritating as he kept insisting everywhere was very far and we must eat at the hotel. In reality there are some fabulous places around 20-25 minutes drive away! So we wasted the start of our holiday believing this in order to make him business.
Eventually we found our way round the island- we fell in love with a place called Kalipa although quite a drive and a bit of a dangerous one at that!! More nearby is Paleokastrisas- an easy drive straight up the road for 20 mins with lovely beaches and views. You must visit Corfu Old town it's simply beautiful. Best restaurant find was Taverna at Kalipa. Best bar find was La cocotte in corfu- up a few hills but the sunset view is AMAZING!

In Summary
A hotel in need of a little TLC and refurb. A little over priced for what it is but if you are planning on exploring and just having somewhere basic to rest your head then this is your place!

I would like to thank you for taking the time to write your review
about the property and, the detailed description
about things that need our attention.
Although we value very much your opinion, I would also like,
by given this chance, to clarify some points of your review.

About the Environment:
The hotel is described, almost in every site, as "lost" in a green scenery and
off the main road, along with the google maps to prove that detail.
As the comments about the "shabby" hotel sign,
please have in mind that in Corfu, unfortunately,
it is NOT allowed to have on the main road , any type of signs,
either "shabby" or "elegant".
The Rooms are standard basic, with NO flat screen TV's,
as can be seen at all Fiori's photos,
all furnitures are handmane by Fiori's carpenters family,
but as you have stated, cleaned daily and fresh towels provided.
Yes, we already know that we need to "update" our rooms and facilities,
and, each year we try to add/change/improve some of our needed areas/points.

Eating at Fiori:
As for the breakfast we you have stated as paid extra, unfortunately,
I must correct you as, the breakfast is included in the Room price and,
I suspect that, you have noticed on the invoice/receipt issued by the hotel,
the total price of the room you have paid was split into:
the net price of the Room per night plus (+)
the net price of the breakfast per Room / per night and,
added together, you get the Total Amount you have paid for the Room !!!!
No Extra Charges have been added to
the rate of the Room type you have originally booked.

Generally, there are NO Extra charges fees for any additional service
in Fiori hotel such as: Safe boxes in Rooms, Air Condition, Wi-Fi services !!!

Last, but not least, regarding our prices,
we think that if someone takes under concideration:
the daily cleaning services,
the variety and enriched Fiori's continental breakfast
- compared to other 2 star hotels standard continental breakfast - ,
the well kept gardens and maintence of the swimming pool,
the reception and concierge services, then,
we think that we can support the general saying "VFM" .

Positive points: pool area, sun beds and the location among a very green surrounding. The size of the room and terrace was also good. The staff working there is so wonderful, helpful and very kind.

Negative points: the furniture and decoration of the room are very old. Sometimes from the bathroom we could feel a horrible smell coming from the pipes. The water tap was rusted, and the tv was from the 90's at least. The air conditioned machine was also old and it was partially broken (and noisy as hell). Definitely needs a huge remodelling. The way of locking the room door is also so archaic and the soundproofing of the room is not good. We also hear from our room some unpleasant situations like the owner yelling and shouting to some employees in the corridor of the first floor the day of our arrival. There was also an accident in the breakfast buffet as a cup chocolate fall on the floor accidentally. Instead of managing the situation and let feel the guest that everything is ok and they will clean it, the owner of the hotel ( he is always there) got very nervous and start yelling and groaning, talking to other Greek (in greek) people that were having breakfast and making a normal situation( I'm sure it is not the first time something falls down) in a terrible show, and of course very uncomfortable for the guest and the rest of the people in the buffet. Luckily, the rest of the staff was so nice that later on, they even apologise about the situation.

I do not recommend this hotel unless you do sacrifice everything else for having a wonderful outdoor pool area.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to write your review and,
comments for the property, the staff and the owner.
First of all, I would like to apologise, once more for the behaviour
of the owner of the Hotel as,
he sometimes gets nervous and acts in a temper towards our Guests,
certainly this is not an excuse, but,
"Fiori hotel" should not be about him, but as an experience, in total.
The rest of the staff are trying to offer their services in order
for the Guests to enjoy their stay and holidays.
We have accepted the fact that the hotel needs renovation in some areas
as well as, some modern additions and, we hope to be able to do so, this winter,
so that we will be "attracted" in a way, that will make you reconsider
and visit us again and let us enjoy your positive smile and company!!!
