“Perfect Cottagr”
Reviewed 26 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

In a beautiful rural setting with views over the valley to Whitby Abbey, just a short drive to Whitby and the surrounding coastline and a few minutes drive to the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway at Goathland. The cottage is very well appointed and maintained to a very high standard. Tina, Andy and their two children were perfect hosts, always available but not intrusive. We spent an idyllic week with our daughter and two year old granddaughter. The road down to the cottage is steep and bumpy but easily negotiated with care. Highly recommended.

“Great Place”

This is a lovely warm, comfortable, spotlessly clean cottage set in beautiful surroundings. It is well equipped for 2 people and everything is of good quality. The sofas are very comfortable, as is the bed!! The cottage is surrounded by a lovely garden. It's a shame that we had almost 2 weeks of bad weather so we weren't able to sit outside very much! Tina and Andy, the owners, are friendly and welcoming. They live next door and were there to help, but were not intrusive.
There are however, a few things you need to be aware of:
1) There is no freezer (or even an ice box in a fridge) so no facility for using cool cells, ice blocks, frozen meals etc
2) There is no WiFi although the mobile signal with Vodafone and EE was good and it's 3G.
3) The drive down to the property is awful - very steep with lots of potholes. You do get used to it but it isn't ideal - make sure you stock up on essentials as you don't feel like popping out for a pint of milk!! The cottage owners don't own the drive so its condition is not their fault.
4) The entrance to the property is well hidden from the main road and it's a bit hard to find off the very steep Blue Bank. Again you get used to that after a few exits and entrances!!
Despite the last 4 points, Underhill is a lovely cottage and is an ideal place to unwind, relax and enjoy the Yorkshire countryside and coast. Highly recommended.

“Beautiful cottage ”
Reviewed 7 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We loved this cottage. The view is wonderful. The owners are really lovely and can't do enough to help you. The bed is so comfy and it's so peaceful you sleep like a baby. It has 2 good sofas that out do the lumpy ones I've had in other cottages.
I didn't even mind the steep path down from the main road down to the cottage. It just needs the potholes sorting out as there's a few hundingers that nearly took my wheel out.
We stayed for a bank holiday weekend and would have loved to stay longer. Several members of my family, who were staying in other accommodation, visited us and were very jealous of this cottage.
Can't wait to go back.

“An excellent cottage”

We first used the cottage in 2014 and the fact we booked again for 2015 should indicate how satisfied we are with the cottage. It is kept to a high standard, is an ideal base for exploring the North Yorkshire Moors and handy for Whitby. Highly recommended
