“I thoroughly recommend both this villa and Rethymnon”

This villa is all about the views. From the garden, pool and various balconies, the views across the sea and the countryside are superb, particularly the sunset view from the living room balcony.

The villa is located behind secure gates and the pool area is well equipped with good sunbeds. The kitchen is adequate: crockery, cutlery, cooking dishes and salad bowls are at a minimum but there is a good cooker and fridge and an excellent barbecue and seating area just beside the pool.

The villa is very well maintained with regular cleaning (both the villa itself and the pool) and sheets and towels being replaced every few days. The property manager, Mr Nikos, is charming and helpful, as is Valia, from whom we rented. For example, being a family of voracious readers, we organised to have our holiday reading shipped to Valia's office in Rethymnon in advance, which Mr Nikos then delivered to our villa on our arrival - now that's good service!

We spent most of our days between the villa / pool and Rethymnon, which is a lovely town. It has a beautiful, long promenade which is excellent for walking early in the morning before it gets too hot. The beach is very clean and the sea gets deep so gradually that even when there are lots of people in the water, it is never crowded. The old town has a great shopping area. We particularly liked the Juice Bar (Souliou 62 - the freshest fruit, nothing frozen, blended by the lovely Lillian), Avli restaurant (Xanthoudidou 22) and Brew Your Mind coffee shop (Arkadiou 251). We also ate very good take-away pizzas on the beach a few times, watching the sunset as the kids played and swam, from Pizza di Napoli.

Overall: I thoroughly recommend both this villa and Rethymnon. Exceptionally friendly people and a beautiful area.
