Review of Coco Mojo

Coco Mojo
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: USD 2 - USD 36
Description: Coco Mojo's is all about fun, great atmosphere and having a fantastic time. Located just a stone throw away from the beach opposite the tennis courts. The owner and chef has operated and cooked all around the world and has operated restaurants in Palm Cove since 1993. This is his last one " so he say's" and he wants to go back to where he started, have fun with cooking food and make people happy! The food served in Coco Mojo gets it's inspiration from street food dishes from countries located around the equator. We believe that these type of dishes are perfect for our hot tropical climate and are great to share. Coco Mojo has a funky selection cocktails based on the same philosophy and we have an outstanding wine list for very reasonable prices. On weekend days we serve breakfast. It's not your standard eggs and bacon. The dishes are inspired by travels around the world and breakfast cocktails and 10 international iced coffees are on the menu. Lunch consists of tapas style international street food dishes and share platters. We hope to see you come as a customer and leave as a friend.

Really enjoyed our evening here. Nice setting even though not beach front but when it's dark you can't see the water anyway. Beautiful terrace with pretty lights and decoration. Always busy, so make sure you book ahead. Food was delicious and portions were huge. Also loved their cocktails.

It's a mixture of different cuisines, so that left us a little bit confused. But other than that, highly recommended.

We enjoyed a great meal here! We shared a seafood platter which was really fresh and very delicious, followed by a small tasting plate of desserts - chocolate pannacotta, tiramisu and raspberry sorbet in a meringue nest - all yummy. As we dined we watched curlews, baby wallabies and flying foxes wandering the night - delightful!
The only reason we haven't given a 5 is that we did wait over an hour after placing our order.

The menu looked enticing and different. The venue looked interesting - especially at night with the lighting. However, the food left a bit to be desired. Serving sizes were large and presentation was nice.
The meals were bland and overdressed. My green paw paw salad was the exception to be over dressed - there was NO dressing and no green paw paw. The pepper crusted fish was very fresh - but no pepper crust?? The Japanese styled salad was drenched! The service was ok.
Just need to work on adding flavour and zing over the serving size - i much prefer less of a good thing

Decided to walk the beach from Palm Cove to Clifton Beach to test out Coco Mojo for breakfast. The beach walk is strongly recommended but not as much as making sure you visit this place. As a food lover, I admire a place that will push the 'norm' and this café does it in style. The waitress steered me towards the 'pork' dish and glad she did. It included scotch eggs, grilled pork belly (did not need to cut it), gourmet sausages and bacon with caramelised pineapple and a piccalilli to die for. Not a normal breakfast meal but quite unique and extremely tasty. My wife had the smoked salmon which was so fresh and mountains of it, served with beetroot relish, eggs, crispy kale, a hash cake and hollandaise sauce. Our third diner had the smashed avo and it is as per the photo on this site - unbelievable large and the dukkah covered fetta was awesome. Great service, good atmosphere, and the coffee was as good as any we have had in the area. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee was smooth and extremely good, and better than expected. Will definitely visit again before we leave as this place is special. If you don't what the standard breakfast fare, give this place a go as it will not disappoint. The servings are large and the prices are very competitive with the establishments of Palm Cove. Huge thumbs up!!
