It was nice and hot when we arrived on the 3rd of September, my lovely taxi man who had come back for us 2 hours later as plane was late was a lovely man giving us advice, I pre booked with 'welcome pickups', best to send them a google map of the villa as the road is not one they are used to. Best price taxi firm though. We were welcomed at the villa by Katrina and Harris the owners, again we were late because of the plane but not by that much, just let them know, they were lovely and as they guided us inside the villa Katrina explained where things were, she had made us a massive salad, bread rolls, their own wine and own Raki! I was pleasantly surprised!

The villa was huge, it was spotlessly clean, towels were on every bed, you could pick tomatoes in the garden and lemons. The pool was huge, all one depth but that was fine as my husband cannot swim, it was lovely to jump in to as it was quite hot walking around so brilliant to come back to after going out.

There are shops at the top of the road, a bakery with cashpoint and 4 supermarkets about a 2 minute walk, if you walk for about another 10/15 minutes further up there are 2 big supermarkets 'AB' and 'Kazazakh', you can get fresh meat, pizzas, hams, all sorts, go in your car if you have one or wait until the sun has gone down or you will bake, unless the weather is not in the high 20's!
We walked everywhere or took the bus, as you are just off the main road for buses to Chania, it takes about half an hour.
Kolymbari/Kolymvari bay is just up past the supermarkets about a half hour walk via road and hot weather, or you can go via the beach at the other end of your road but may take longer trying to walk on pebbles there is a back road you can take which is quicker! There are lots of Tavernas there, we had one favourite as the food was presented like you were in a Michelin star restaurant and tasted great, good prices to, it was called 'Ev EHadi' . Our favourite Taverna though was at the end of our road and turn left walk about 7 minutes and it is there, 'Alexandros'! Lovely place, we went about 5 times, we fell in love with Mama Maria! It is a must! Anyway the villa is lovely very good price, there are new resorts around and you will here music at night from around 8pm to 11.30, it was nice and did not bother us unless they played English songs! We like the Greek music! The road the villa is on is a quiet back road but the road everyone uses to walk to the beach, did not bother us and I think everyone who passed thought we were movie stars! So great villa, good location for everything, 30 minutes by taxi from airport, and near all amenities. Harris will come out if any issues like we forgot the key and locked ourselves out and he was there very quickly! So thankyou to Katerina and Harris lovely people and made us very welcome. xxx
