Visitors for second time we cannot say enough kind words for this excellent value for money hotel and its well trained staff.
Room 604 - Big private pool and perfect location right a few steps to the hotel's private beach and next to the main big swimming pools and pool bars. The most wonderful sunset from our room!

Food and drink - plentiful and a good choice every day. We had an all inclusive package and we were very satisfied by the food quality and the big variety. We could find anything we wanted and even more. Of course there were a number of a la carte restaurants such as the Cretan Ariadni and the Italian Deli which we highly recommend.

Staff - everybody was attentive, nothing too much trouble. Our special praise goes to Antigoni and Chrysi from the reception. Ladies you are really professionals.

All in all, would we return to the hotel for 3d time? The answer is YESSSSS!

I spent 9 days at this hotel back in May and loved every minute of it. I took my girlfriend as a surprise and until we got there she did not know where we were going. I was in constant talk with the Reception team to make sure our room, restaurant reservations and experiences were all set up in advance. This spot is great. You have several pools of which a few are adults only, so totally friendly for guests on a romantic trip like ourselves. On our way back, my girlfriend already wanted to book for next October!

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview. Even if you have to pay more, do it!

So many things were not nice about this planned 9-day stay.

On arriving late at the hotel; asked if there was any chance of some food, so a ham roll, wrapped in cling-film, was offered to us at the reception desk - not even on a plate! Were we expecting too much to have sandwiches delivered with room service?

The corridor to the room stank of the sewerage plant nearby, which needed repair, and was reported by us - as we left the hotel earlier than planned. The air conditioner in the room struggled to keep us cool in the room.

We asked for cocktails on our "ultra all inclusive" package only to find that many of the ones my wife liked would cost around 8-9 euros each time. What's Ultra about that! Later, as we felt we would like some pizza at the pool bar, we learned that this would be 14 euros extra - how depressing. The buffet restaurant is cramped and you have to join a queue to get in at some times of the day, and you will get turned away if you have flip-flops on at dinner. The meals we had there were unremarkable.

We have never experienced additional charges like this before, for an all-inclusive stay and this one also limits you to only 3 free nights at their specified restaurants. Is this common for much of the Med? - as we have enjoyed great All-Inclusive holidays in The Caribbean, Mexico and Turkey, where we would only pay if we wanted some branded alcohol or expensive wine on the restaurant wine list.

I find it hard to believe the high ratings for this hotel. We met 2 other couples from the UK who said they would not be returning - and that was only when we asked how they were enjoying it.

Dear KevCor54,

Thank you very much for your feedback, although we do not necessarily agree with some of the points you quoted.

We are a team of 30 experienced people, on duty 7 days a week, 16 hours a day and our goal is to be in touch with all our guests and to provide all the necessary hospitality services. As a result, the percentage of our satisfied visitors is very high every year and our resort has been awarded by all major travel sites (TripAdvisor, TopHotels, etc.).

The Ultra All Inclusive Concept for us is synonymous with quality and some of our visitors confuse it with quantity. But we are here to explain our concept to a few of our visitors who are confused with the above.
Our resort is a 5 star resort and we have guests with Half Board, Bed and Breakfast, Full Board and some with All Inclusive basis. There are goods that can not be included in any All Inclusive, such as black labeled drinks, champagne, dinner for 2 on the beach, a private romantic dinner on your room's balcony, our restaurant offering 2-star Michelin recipes, some very special cocktails etc. For the above, there is always an extra cost even in the All Inclusive.

We love having happy guests, but happy guests try to be happy everywhere, not just in our resort. If you had any issue and did not contact us then we feel very sad about this fact. Our resort can respond to every kind of request, we have the most beautiful rooms and villas, a restaurant with 2 Michelin starred level creations, 6 wonderful bars offering international labeled drinks, a beautiful white sandy beach and amazing gardens. For all the above reasons and for many more, we stongly believe that our resort is a tourism destination on its own.

Some of the negative reviews are written by competitors, but we still take very seriously all the comments. Even in paradise, someone can be unhappy and that is why we are working very hard to find a solution to all the issues in order for all our guests to enjoy their holidays. We have adopted a philosophy of happiness in our resort!

Finally, we would like to thank you again for the time you spent to review our hotel and we would like to welcome you soon again.

Warmest Regards,
Radisson Blu Beach Resort

I must have read every review on this place before I booked and was so puzzled how it had such great and such terrible reviews in such quick succession, now I have visited I understand.

Positives - our room was really nice, proper boutique style luxury in a superior suite. Had a few minor snags with draws not opening but lots of storage so didn't matter. Lots of different pools available and each catered for different groups and ages which helped, the shallow pools obviously attracted those with young kids, slightly older ones went to deeper one with slides all the way up to an adults only pool. There are some man made beaches with beautifully clear water, one gets more rubbish washed up than the other but the one we used was verging on immaculate. Personally I don't like sand so preferred that it's actually very small crushed stone as opposed to sand. The quality of the food in the main buffet restaurant is good and the Italian was very nice also.

Negatives - unfortunately several. We arrived at 1425 to be told our room would be ready in 10 minutes, we went for lunch having been up since the early hours and when we returned over 30 minutes later were told it would be a further 10minutes, we waited another 30 and by this time our 1 year old was really flagging. All in all it took over an hour and a half before they sorted the room, then to be told that we had to wait for the buggy to take luggage. Had they simply have been honest from the outset and said 2 hrs we could have put the baby in the buggy and gone for a leisurely stroll and allowed him to sleep whilst we sipped a drink by a pool, by saying 10, 10, 10 repeatedly we held on. Saw some people getting welcome drinks but we were not offered this. Communications at reception also lacked on several other occasions which really let it down.

The mosaic restaurant - food is fine, typical all inclusive affair but unfortunately the dining area is simply too small, too cramped and so dated. I do not go on holiday to eat somewhere resembling a really bad works canteen. My secondary school from 20years ago and a thousand students was better set up than Mosaic. Interestingly if you peer into the 'adults only' areas you see how the other half live with tablecloths, comfy seats, and nice decor. Going for meals here was a necessity but not a pleasure, the meals we had at the Italian were a pleasure however.

Let's talk about the 'ultra' all inclusive. Radisson, seriously, stop kidding yourself, yes you are an all inclusive hotel but by adding the word ultra or premium as a prefix is meaningless without backing it up with the goods. It's a standard all inclusive, with standard beverages. It's fine, just not 'ultra' or 'premium'.

Would I recommend this place? probably not. Would I return? I would consider it but that's as I know what I would be getting for my money. If you have a family and need food big and fast, plenty of pools and a nice little sunbathing beach then this is fine, we go to Crete often and for us we just needed a 'do nothing' family holiday which didn't involve leaving the resort and so it ticked that box. Yes it's a 5* however do a quick search and you will find you can pay around €200 euro a night here or €1000 a night somewhere else, don't expect the same standards. Saying that though a few tweaks and Radisson could deliver a much better service.

Advice - Radisson, renovate Mosaic asap and train reception to be honest, if a room isn't ready then manage expectations and give truthful timelines. Look at consistency amongst service and staff, if mini bars to be restocked daily then actually do it, replenish tea supplies every day, not sporadically. Offer comparable environments to those with children to those without, we do pay to take kids on holiday so don't then penalise with a sub standard service in comparison.

Holiday people - if you can manage walking up and down hills, need to just lounge by a pool or ocean and have a party of big and varied appetites then this place is OK, just be prepared to take some rough with the smooth.

Room Tip: Go for superior at least.
