Swordfish was excellent along with a lemon sponge cake to die for. Wait staff very funny.
It was just down the stairs from my cute little hotel by cathedral.

Thank Colleen F

This place is very over rated and a disgrace to the area, the food is poor quality, portions are inconsistant, pasta / gnocchi have no taste althought the portions were big, fish course miniscule portion, no fish in shells.........service was surly and hap- hazard, none of the 6 in group had a course together, served wrong wine than that ordered... could go on on how bad it was.... and would not even give this 1 star if allowed on site.
We live in the area 6 months of the year, will never go back...we suggest plenty of other restuarants in the village that are fabulous

Quite frankly, Da Massimo on Lago di Trasimeno in Umbria, Italy, may be the best seafood (Italian style) I have ever experienced. The shellfish, the pasta, the scampi, perch, everything is just amazing. The service and view overlooking the lake complement the food perfectly. I visited twice on my recent visit to Umbria for pianist Angela Hewitt's Trasimeno Music Festival, and now (back in Atlanta) wish I could drive there for lunch or dinner right now! This restaurant is worth seeking out no matter where in the area you may be traveling! Fantastic just doesn't do it justice!

Allow me to take position against the other - often not so positive - reviews, which I of course respect!
I was invited here again and again by my local customers and I always liked everything very much: Maurizio, the super-friendly and attentive host, his team, the freshly prepared food, the perfect view over Lago Trasimeo, etc. etc. They are specialised in fish and seafood from the Adriatic coast. Locals know this very well and come from all over Northern Umbria. Tourists are seen as well, but they are the minority. This is a place where some little Italian words open up the hearts of the service team. So, just try. They will appreciate and they will make your day...
Try the bruschetti, the platter of Lago di Traismeno, the pasta (evergreen is Spaghetti alle vongole and/or Tortellini alle Massimo) and all kind of super frsh sea fish and sea food. Observe what the locals order and order the same - you will enjoy it, if you're open.
Very good wine list. All at excellent price-/performance level.
