Owner description: Our 18 hole championship golf course is located on the beautiful Laguna Madre Bay. Our golf course is considered one of the finest in the area. Enveloped by nature and removed from the traffic and busy pace of this modern age, the course at South Padre Island Golf Club is truly an oasis.

I'm impressed with the improvements in the restaurant...staff was good and the special for dinner was really good...nice and hot, and flavorful. Would like to see more items on the menu to choose from....but I hear that that is to come...And they are still making physical improvements.
Now, to see how the golf course is when I play tomorrow.

We played SPI Golf Club today for the first time in several years. I was disappointed. While the greens were terrific and the staff awesome, the overall condition of the course was pretty rough. I had memories of this being one of the premier courses in South Texas. It’s simply not that good anymore. The fairways were generally ok, but not great. We often found they were overwatered and muddy. The fairway bunkers have been filled with grass because the wind kept blowing the sand out (not much they can do about that). Lakes were low or empty. It just seems like they have let it go. It’s such a shame because the course still has
Some of the prettiest holes in Valley golf. On the upside, a lot of the cart paths near the clubhouse have been repaved. The same is necessary course-wide.
The staff was terrific today. They do an great job. I just hope the management puts some money into the course to get it back to its old self.

We just stopped by the Gulf Club, and were lucky enough that they worked us right in for a very enjoyable round of golf. The setting is unique - the mudflats of the Laguna Madre supply the rough along the shoreline. There also are cacti, palmetto and other tropical vegetation to supply a bit of excitement should your ball end up in the rough.
A challenging golf course that we thoroughly enjoyed!

Beautiful views to spend a day golfing! Well placed palm trees make for exceptional views of the greens. Homes and townhouses often closely line the fairways and the cart paths between holes goes right through back yards of houses.

Many bunkers are unkept with grass growing in the bottom. Greens played extremely slowly, and needed to be maintained (trimmed, watered, etc). Fairways and tee boxes were inconsistent...there were many dry spots right next to green grass.

Having said that, this was an enjoyable course to play, especially the back 9. There were wide fairways and canals lining the fairway - usually with a picturesque green surrounded by palm trees at the end.

Overall, it was a nice course to play, but expensive for the current conditions.

The club house staff was extremely rude. We asked if we could start on the back nine, since the first tee box had 4 groups waiting to tee off. ABSOLUTELY NOT, you can't do that! He acted like we did not know anything. We are here to have fun. Not get yelled at. Wow.

What if we start on hole 3. Again with the rude tone. Not sure what we did to piss this guy off.
