We have just spent our Easter weekend at Amazon Lodge with Peter and Luise and their lovely three dogs. This little family made our stay one of the most enjoyable and relaxing weekend we have ever had!
Louise and Peter are great hosts and made us feel really at home. Peter is a "entertaining information source" and great guide whith whome you always want to be/drive with. Louise's care and cooking skills will amaze you. This is definitely a place my husband and I (and of course our little 14-months old daughter) can highly recommend! We enjoyed very much to spend 3nights in their wonderful garden lodge! One can have an amazing view of the city, surrounded by trees and flowers and birds... I have only one word: It was wonderful!!!
We enjoyed the most the fur-therapy given by the three "guarding angels" :-))))
Would Love to return!!!

Hi Guys,

You certainly have a wonderful way with words. Thank you so much for all the compliments.

Life is really quiet here now you have left. The three doggies are missing your daughter as they were really coming to believe she was joining their little "pack" as she spent so much time crawling around amongst them.

Hope we see you again as Stefan & I still have lots of the world's problems to sort out plus we want to show you some of the wonderful culture of this incredible multi racial, multi religious little island.

Lots of Love, Peter, Louise, Coco, Jack and Shep.

It is hard to improve on the other glowing reviews of the Amazon Lodge! It is a wonderful place to stay, and a perfect base from which all of Trinidad can be explored. After a couple of hours -- and a couple of drinks -- I felt right at home (I was even allowed to help clear the table and do the dishes)! The food is great, locally inspired and elegantly presented. It is much appreciated that special effort is made to accommodate dietary restrictions and requests (the callalo soup is wonderful!). But chatting with Peter and Louise is the real pleasure -- and do ask about the moose and the house rum! It is worth a trip to Trinidad just to have the opportunity to stay at the Amazon Lodge!

Room Tip: All are great! Eenie, meenie, mienie mo!

Mike the Moose is quite proud at his online mention! It was super having you stay with us. Learning about the local wasps and the entomological research conducted on them was fascinating. If there is ever a need to acquire a larger sample size, don't forget to come and visit us. We'd love to hear more about the work you do.

Peter and Louise and their dogs welcomed us to their lovely home, Amazon Lodge, which they have turned into a mini paradise. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable with a terrace overlooking the garden leading down to the main terrace - where we had breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our hosts were friendly and generous with their time and knowledge, Louise cooked good meals, and they seemed to be relaxed that we spent quite a lot of time around the table chatting; they also welcomed our guests, helped us with arrangements, and lent us local mobile phones.

The Lodge is in the S. Margarita part of St Augustine, close to the University of the West Indies - situated on higher ground, on land which was once rain forest, surrounded by wonderful vegetation. They have created a lovely garden where they encourage the Trinidadian birds to visit; the site is airy and has wonderful views of the plain below. Parking seemed safe.

Our hosts offer tours if you want to see more of Trinidad, and also offer an airport pick up service and local lifts to public transport areas. They have some very interesting books about Trinidad and also leaflets to local heritage and tourism places.

Room Tip: There are only 3 rooms and they all share the lovely views.

Hi Guys,

You really filled our Lodge with your happy vibe.

The wedding of your son made it really special and we were delighted to do anything we could to make your stay memorable.

Now .... when are you coming back to finishing sorting out all those world problems?

Lots of love .. Peter, Louise and Jack, Shep and Coco.

All that is left for us to do now, is to convince you how much fun it would be to play "pretty mas" with us next year! It was lovely having you here, and we enjoyed seeing Carnival through your eyes. Be sure to drop in again, even if only to savour a rum punch on the patio ...

My second stay was more fun than the first!! I stayed for 2 weeks this trip. Peter and Louise's Amazon Lodge is hands down the best place to stay while visiting Trinidad. Louise is a gourmet cook and the food is fantastic. I wanted to try more of the local foods and Louise did not disappoint. Peter knows the history of Trinidad because he was part of it. From politician to newspaper columnist Peter knows the issues facing his adopted country. While traveling with Peter and Louise on one of the many fascinating tours they offer the history of Trinidad and its people comes alive. During my 2 weeks there I toured extensively and interacted with their other guests which is an adventure in itself. I shared the Lodge with a Guyanese student taking exams and a French candle salesman! I loved getting up early and watching the many exotic and colorful birds that inhabit Amazon Lodge's gardens. This is truly a bird watchers paradise! I can't say enough good things about my stay and highly recommend Amazon Lodge for both long and short term stays. I can't wait for my third trip!
