We have just had a wonderful lunch and as always the food and service are impeccable. However what has happened to chefs these days who are so reluctant to offer potatoes. I had sea bream today which was wonderful but the dish was very oily and just one potato would have made the dish perfect. Surely even though we are talking fine dining here there is still a place for the humble potato. This seems to be a growing trend among chefs today especially in fine dining restaurants. I'm with Delia on this one who is tired of seeing "dots" on plates. If having potatoes on the plate upsets the balance please at least offer them on the side.
