“Great restaurant/bar right on the beach”

Waves is part of the two adjacent hotels (Le Grand Courlan and Grafton Beach Resort) and was available as part of our all-inclusive deal (up until 5pm).
The building looks a bit tatty from the outside; particularly from the beach but don’t let that put you off. The location is fantastic being directly at the back of the beach, which is hardly ever busy. There’s covered seating in the main bar and restaurant and then further tables outside on an open veranda (some of these tables and chairs were rusting badly).
There’s a good choice of food and it’s very popular at lunchtime. Service is sometimes a bit slow but, when you’re on holiday, that shouldn’t matter! The menu includes local dishes (e.g. fish tacos and chicken roti) as well as a very good burger, club sandwich etc. However, several days some of the food choices were not available.
The cocktail menu is extensive and there’s draught beer and wine available. A cocktail on the veranda at sunset watching beach cricket is a great experience (except that the sun disappeared behind clouds at sunset on the day we did that!).

Limited choice but the food is better than the Main Hotel. Burgers, Panninis, salads and tacos. Wine beer and cocktails available until 5pm for the all inclusive user. Great place to spend the afternoon when it rains. Over looks Stonehaven beach and the noise of the waves is quite deafning. Staff efficient and smile.
Enjoyed the time we spent here

Beautiful setting to have dinner and hear the waves crashing just below while you ate. The food was quite good. We had rack of lamb (done rare, as requested) and grilled salmon in a white wine sauce for mains, and mussels for an appetizer. The only hiccup was the 20+ minutes to get our drinks, and this was only after we flagged down 2 waitresses and looked directly to the bartender for help. They were refreshing and quite reasonable during the 2 for 1 happy hour. Service was otherwise very friendly and rapid.

Best part of the Grand Courlan experience.
Beach bar shared with the Grafton Beach hotel.
The menu is simple at lunchtime. A selection of chicken, beef and fish dishes. You can also have a shellfish alternative but this is not part of the AI package.
All the food is of good quality but the burgers, chicken rotti curry and fish dishes stand out.
Be prepared to wait because all dishes are prepared from scratch.
The surroundings are stunning, the staff are friendly and efficient and they always serve the red wine at a good temperature

We visited this restaurant many time especially for lunch and happy hour cocktails.
Tasty mostly western food at reasonable prices,
Right alongside a large beach where the waves pounded on the shore.
