This is a fabulous villa in a quiet residential area with lovely views. Unfortunately when we were there Gran Canaria was experiencing unusually cold weather and as this is a large 4 bedroom villa it felt very cold, but this was soon remedied by lighting the wood burner and using the small electric heater, a/c in the bedrooms can be used to warm them as well. We had been hoping to do some walking but as we had quite a lot of rain, we did more sightseeing. We went Cruz Tejeda were we had snow and down into Tejeda and round the old part. Had hoped to do Roque Nublio but the police had closed the road. Did a walk from Santa Lucia to Taidai. We had lovely fruit from the very large garden, lots of places to sit with a drink and enjoy the view, thank you Hector. This part of the island is much more green and lush than the south and a great base for exploring the north, places like Las Palmas, Telde and Firgas.
We spent a lovely ten days here in April. The villa is in a semi-rural location, easy to get to, and with good food shopping in Valsequillo just down the road. There is parking for several cars outside. The gardens are huge and on many levels (I'd be wary of bringing very young children - but it was super for our older children). There are several terraces, with plenty of loungers, tables and chairs. We enjoyed breakfasts with a view of the mountains from the useful little terrace outside the kitchen. The gardens are stocked with citrus trees and mature palms and cacti, etc.
The villa itself is very spacious and modern, all on one level, with a very large and comfortable living area. The kitchen is well-equipped with induction hob, microwave (methinks - didn't use that), fan oven (with grill - used that a lot), kettle, toaster, and two types of coffee machine.
There are four double bedrooms (one having twin beds) all with ensuite shower/WC. The rooms are all equipped to a very high standard, with quality linen and towels. In the garden there is another shower room with WC, plus a laundry room with washer and tumble drier, and airers for outside.
The surrounding area is good for walking, and it is possible to walk directly from the villa - from the pavement there's a cut through to the barranco which runs alongside the villa, along which you can walk up into the hills, or down through a scenic rural area.
The roads in the area are very twisty, but reasonably quiet when we were there. Once on the motorway in Telde, it is easy to get to the southern coast, for example. A very scenic day was up in the mountains around Tejeda. We visited the beach on a few days, but I'd recommend it more for the stunning mountain scenery.
Well equipped villa with beautiful garden in scenic location. Owners very helpful. Good local restaurants.
We were two weeks in Villa Margarita and we enjoyed it very much. With the directions of the attentive owner it was easy to find. Upon arrival we were met with the mere Spanish speaking cleaning lady who handed us the keys. As she was in a hurry she had hardly time to explain the working of the television and the several 'devices' that were atatched to the walls. ( We never discovered their use). Even with the help of a technician who arrived the next morning the television showed no English, French and Dutch channels.
The villa was clean- spick and span- and there were several nice gestures of welcome.(Flowers and even drinks in the fridge).
The garden was stunning. We counted seven terraces, most of them provided with a table and some chairs. Also there were a lot of deckchairs, but we missed suitable cushions on them..
Apart from these small inconveniences ( tv channels/ cushions on deckchairs) we had a wonderlul time in villa Margarita. It was well equipped and with a nice atmosphere.
