Our initial enquiry through trip advisor was easy and quickly answered. Email and phone contact numbers were given in case of further questions. The villa is attached to the owners villa and we found Rob and Hazel to be both friendly and helpful hosts at all times. There is parking available at the villa and I would recommend a car to fully enjoy your visit. There is a reliable and efficient bus service if you choose not to drive.
The villa itself consists of three rooms, a bedroom with a/c, lounge / kitchen with dining table and armchairs and lastly a shower / toilet room. There is a patio area with table, chairs, sun loungers, sun umbrella and also a separate covered dining / bbq area about 15 metres away. So there are 3 choices of dining location so you can find shade if desired. The bbq is built in and wood is supplied along with table lighting. The gardens are a pleasure to look at with mix of flowers, fruit trees and vegetables which Rob and Hazel kindly gave us a guided tour of.
The kitchen/ lounge had Internet radio, reliable wifi, fridge ( bring ice cube bags to make ice), microwave, cooking hob, filter coffee maker, electric kettle, extractor fan, toaster, log burner for the cooler winter nights and all the utensils, crockery, cutlery and glassware you need ( Proper wine glasses supplied). In 10 days, we couldn't think of anything else that we needed.
The location is rural and pleasantly quiet, with views of the sea and the village. We enjoyed seeing an owl who visited several nights while we were there and also Sweep the cat was friendly and approachable if you called him.
There is a choice of restaurants in the area, some of which are walking distance, with a good hill to negotiate and work off that dinner. A 10 minute walk up or down the hill will get you to a bus stop where there are hourly reliable buses. Overall a comfortable property which is well maintained in pleasant surroundings.
Idyllic location with direct views to the sea. The house was well set up and incredibly quiet with wonderful hosts who were there to answer your questions, and were absent unless you wanted them. All we heard was birdsong. You could pick oranges off the trees for juice, and fresh rocket and herbs for your salads. Home-made bread and marmelade was available, as were very fresh eggs, avocados... The island itself has everything, mountains with unique weather features, deciduous forests, pine forests, black sands beaches, arid volcanic areas, miradores around every corner. My wife and I had all our expectations surpassed. We are planning to return
I cannot really say much more than has been said already. Great hosts who are very responsive to emails and queries. A lovely location, not at all touristic, with a wonderful view from which to watch the sun go down each evening. There are a number of varied walks in the locality, with details provided in the flat. The accomodation amply met our requirements for the week. The good wifi signal (which can be picked up from the patio too) plus internet radio were a better option (for a British visitor) than a TV with just Spanish channels. Hopefully we will be back one day.
We had a very enjoyable weeks stay at Casa Lucia. The apartment is light and airy. It has a very well equipped kitchen, comfy bed and an efficient bathroom and shower. The patio area is most welcome. We sat out most mornings to eat breakfast and enjoy the stunning view- it was also nice to come home to to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine.
Rob and Hazel were perfect hosts- helpful in planning our weeks activities. We loved the freshly baked bread and the oranges which we made into juice.
The location on the island is ideal - although no route is quick because of the windy roads - it's possible to reach anywhere on the island from this location .
We particularly enjoyed the local market on Saturday and Sunday and the trip (on Rob's recommendation ) to the observatory.
Casa Lucia is the perfect place to stay on La Palma. It is well-equipped with everything needed for self-catering and comfort - no detail has been overlooked. It is a super home from home. We appreciated the wood-burner in mid-winter (the nights are chilly) and the internet radio and its iPod-friendly programming as well. The hosts, to whose villa the apartment is linked, are welcoming, informative and very kind. We were given the run of the vegetable garden and even in mid-winter were able to enjoy spinach and greens, and fresh herbs. The gift of a large squash also contributed to a hearty soup. It goes without saying that we were comfortable and relaxed throughout our stay at Casa Lucia.
The location is stunning, with fine views of the village and the sea beyond and below. Puntagorda is one of the most attractive places on what is a very beautiful island, and a good base for exploration. At night, when it is clear, the view of the heavens from Casa Lucia's terrace is magnificent.
