Wow! We had the loveliest time! First time in this area of Italy, but definitely not our last. Boshena and Tim were excellent when we arrived, gave us really handy information about where to shop, eat, drink and the best beach spots - also some beautiful walks in the forest. We didn't keep pestering them, but any time we had a question they were very helpful and gave us some great tips - we even bumped into them Peschici and had amazing fish with them at Eden which was the most fantastic restaurant in the harbour just next to the beach - I wish we were there now!
The apartment was perfect, just right for the four of us, very comfortable, fresh, spotless, cool, great shower, well equipped kitchen - not that we cooked more than a couple of times with such great places to eat at nearby Vieste. There is a lovely pizza oven and the most amazing fruit orchard, when we were there cherries and pomegranates were in season and we could just take them from the trees! I have never had such amazing fresh fruits! The terrace has such amazing views over the olive grove, so Italian, so romantic and so relaxing looking down over the valley we all loved it, kids too.
We had a really lovely evening saunter through Vieste down from the top of the fort/castle, wonderful shops, kids found some interesting and different bits to buy and I found some lovely jewellery and clothes! Whole evening ended with yet another delicious meal! - and the best ice cream. Sadly we had missed the fiesta which we were really sad about as I think it is a real spectacle which results in the most incredible fire works - next time we must book for the 9th of May!
We definitely will return, and definitely back to this apartment, such value for money, I really couldn't believe it - can't recommend it enough !
Great trip to authentic and unspoilt Puglia.
Lovely accommodation, in historic villa (Mussolini stayed there in the 1930s) tucked away in a beautiful and picturesque valley.
Off the beaten track, making it feel like you're in real Italy and have a whole olive oil estate to yourself, but minutes away in a car from a number of beautiful beaches and quaint towns.
The house itself is a classic white washed Italian villa, with tasteful decor and all of the amenities you would need and expect for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The surrounding grounds are really pretty, with ancient olive, lemon and fig trees and fragrant herb bushes which fill the night air with a smell which screams Mediterranean.
The weather in the area was perfect at the time and just right for lazy days spent at the villa or on the beach.
The food and wine in the region also deserves a mention - it is without a doubt some of the best food I have ever eaten and certainly the best Italian food - it puts some of the top Italian restaurant food in London to shame and for a fraction of the price. We also discovered some real gems in terms of wine - I didn't know Puglia produced such good wine!
Highly recommended for either a romantic getaway for two or a family holiday.
P.s the owners also produce Vallecoppa Olive Oil - you need to try it - like nothing you'll ever pick up off a supermarket shelf!
