We stayed as a party of five of three generations from early thirties to early eighties of age.
The pictures on the various websites do not do this grand house justice.
From the private driveway you cannot believe what awaits you inside this warm, welcoming house.
A characterful dining room for eight, a modern spacious kitchen with a huge cooker and fridge/freezer and ample cookware and crockery and then a stunning lounge with large sofas, wood burner and floor to ceiling windows with views over fields to the marshes, not forgetting the enormous tv and sound system.
There is also a double bedroom with stylish en-suite on the ground floor in which my mother-in-law said she would happily settle for it being her granny flat.
Upstairs leads to two twin bedrooms and a bathroom and also an enormous double en-suite bedroom with a skylight over the bed where you could stargaze on a clear dark night.....WOW!!
Finally there's the outdoor hot tub.
Sitting in a warming hot tub sipping mulled wine with February snow all around was wonderful and was enjoyed by all everyday of our stay.
A short drive or walk through the forest takes you to Loch Insch Watersports Centre where there is a delightful restaurant as well as a dry ski slope and numerous water activities and a few miles further up the road takes you to Aviemore.
From here there are all sorts of activities possible and the surrounding area is stunning, not forgetting the Cairngorm Railway.
This house is ideal for a large group or family looking for a luxurious house in peaceful surroundings near to many adventure activities and walks.......and of course, the hot tub.
Had an amazing family weekend here, highly recommend. Great setting, the lodge is beautiful, owners very helpful and good value.
5 star. I could not fault a thing. Perfect family break. Stunning house and surroundings. Opened curtains in the morning to find a herd of deer outside. 100 percent recommend
Beautiful home. Lovely surroundings. A weekend wasn't long enough. The staff were very helpful and every thing you could want was available on the house. Hot tub was fabulous. Hope to go back again.
Positives: lovely house, well equipped, good quality bed linen, hot tub is great, especially in cold weather. Very clean and comfortable.
Negatives: The "welcome" folder consists of a list of do's and don'ts as well as the most thorough itemised list of everything in the house, as well as what you will be charged if anything is broken (even down to clothes pegs!). To make guests feel welcome it would be good if information on local area was provided such as activities, restaurants or good walks in the area. You are expected to hoover and clean up after yourself (as expected), but if the house isn't left in the exact condition (as per an itemised bullet point list) you are charged £16 per hour for extra cleaning. A slightly earlier arrival time and later leave time is also charged for. House was freezing cold on arrival so ask for heating to be put on earlier if arriving in cold weather! Good weekend, great location, but the strictness with which the house seems to be run just made us feel a bit unwelcome. We will not be returning.
