It was the early summer of 2013 and I brought my wife & kids to my hometown of Canicatti, Sicily. I was surprised at how many new restaurants have opened since I was there last. (8yrs. ago). I had eaten at Moulin Rouge before, they were very well known for their pizza. It was excellent back then and it still is. We also opted for some appetizers, dinners. The small baby squid were grilled and tasted so fresh with a hint of lemon, so good. For dinner I had the catch of the day, I wasn't sure what kind of fish it was, it might have been the Branzino (bass), it was out of this world TASTY !!!. The boys had pizza and they remarked how it was the best pizza they have had in Italy so far. Their wine selection is very local, Sicilian Nero D'avola among others. The service was a bit layed back, but in Italy people go out to dine, and enjoy, not swallow food. The portions were adequate, not Huge as we expect in USA. The atmosphere rustic, reminds me of an old Sicilian farmhouse. The place was also very clean as were the servers. When I go back again, hopefully sooner than 8 years, Moulin Rouge is on my Go Back To List.
