just back from a week a.i. in this lovely hotel on 20 9 16.
travelled with friends and found it to be lovely, a few small issues but nothing to spoil our stay, i have not found anything barring smoking to be fully critical of.
the hotel is on the main road , setback 50 m so not noisy and on its own beach, it is actually around 6km from the main area of georgioupolis and around 1km from the nearest shopping and socialising area, however a shop onsite caters for most needs.
not too many british people on site we found.
easy to find, painless check in and lovely room, ours was entry level, but well appointed and very clean - even had beach towels in it.
buffet style meals, some seating inside, some outside.great food, great choice and so plentiful, only the fussiest of fussy eaters would complain.theme nights too, asian and bbq.
grounds were lovely, well attended, varied flowers and fruits, we saw pomegranetes limes grapes , lovely
wifi a little sketchy and not the fastest, available outside the pool bar or in reception.the pay for bar was always empty, however we went a.i. so stayed in the pool bar, not quite as attractive, drinks were limited but of nice quality.if you drink gin - they had no tonic so i bought some from the supermarket. service was a little slow and i feel a bigger bar for the size of hotel would be beneficial.
used the hotel as a base, travelled to georgioupolis ballos beach malia and rethymonn .all recommended.
i would recommend this hotel to anyone, not really the kind of place for the 18/30 set though.
animation team were not what we were wanting, however they were so polite, really looked interested and mixed well with guests
great hotel, great weather, great food, great time.
i hope to stay there again.
smoking - downside was the hotel allows smoking nearly everywhere, including at the meal tables and bar.we are now used to smoking areas being made available so this was ashock, didnt spoil the holiday, but more thought on the smoking policy would have enhanced it, we travelled as 3 none smokers.

Travel time: June 2016
Location: there is no other hotels next to the hotel. It's not pros or cons but just a status. On the left - abandoned hotel (former Alexandr III), where a white horse lives. The owner brought her to bathe in the sea. From the hotel to the right - 1 km to Kavros village, where are shops with food and souvenirs and beautiful pedestrian zone; it takes about 15 minutes by foot to get there (at night illuminated poorly, so it is better to go with flashlights). From Kavros a tourist train departs to the lake Kournas with golden carps and turtles.
Very near the hotel there is a city bus stop. It takes you to Chania (about 40 min.) and to Rethymnon (about 20 min.). Bus timetable is at the reception.
Downside- quite a long transfer from Heraklion Airport; with stops in other hotels - about 2.5 hours. If you arrive at Chania Airport, it takes less time.
Territory: competently planned, very green, with a mass of flowers and beautifully trimmed bushes. On the territory there are few small shops with goods for the beach, water and souvenirs.
Beach: small terraces. Free sunbeds. Beach towels are in the room, changed on request. Access to the sea - by wooden pontoon. At the entrance - large stones. A little further in the sea - sand. Very convenient - small shower to rinse salty water at the exit from the pontoon. Alternative beach – at the left (when facing the sea) - sandy entrance, but there is no sun beds and umbrellas.
On the beach to the left of the hotel you can walk to nearby hotels.
Room: large and bright. Cleaning every day.
Food: good. Breakfast - is almost always the same, but with a good choice. Lunch and dinner - is much more varied: meat, fish, vegetables - always; a variety of cheeses for lunch and dinner. Many fruits, supplies are constantly replenished. The restaurant waiters bring drinks in glasses or in carafes. Several times a week themed evening with original Greek snacks and drinks.
Bar: open from 11 a.m., you can use a cooler with water up to this time. A good selection of drinks for ALL, also has paid cocktails. Free ice cream a few species serves all day long. Snacks: cakes, hamburgers, baking - on a set schedule. The bar closes at 11 p.m.
Wi-Fi: Free, but coverage is not everywhere. The best coverage - at the reception and at the bar, in other places - as lucky.
Staff: service is very friendly. From all the staff the most positive impression.
Do I want to come again - definitely! Would I recommend the hotel to friends - definitely!

Room tip: Better to choose rooms on 1-2 floors on the right side (facing the sea)

We had a room on the third floor with beautiful views out over the sea. The room was spacious and clean. You would not want an inside, ground floor room. Lovely selection of food as we were 'all inclusive' . The barbecue night was particularly good with an incredible selection of meat and salads. All the staff were so helpful and friendly. We booked this holiday last minute as fed up with our English summer and it was very busy in August. Would love to go back in May or September. Although the hotel was full there were plenty of staff to assist everyone. There is a bus you catch outside the hotel into the local town of Georgioupolis. There is a bar near main reception that is quiet but you have to pay for your drinks there. We did this after dinner as it was not so busy and noisy. You can sit away from the pool bar though and be quieter overlooking the sea, if you don't want to join in with the entertainment. Lovely relaxing stay and did not have to think about a thing. Only down side was we felt the air conditioning was not man enough but would not let this put us off going again.

Room tip: Make sure you choose a room on the outside on level one or two

We stayed in the Hydramis Palace from August 24th through September 4th 2016.

We had booked All Inclusive.

Due to flight delays we arrived very late August 24th / early August 25th, we were given a temporary room which was very basic and as a first impression was bad, the hotel had provided food which was in the fridge along with a beer and wine, a nice touch as the restaurant was closed.

The all inclusive offering was very good, generally we made use of breakfast and dinner along with drinks, the all inclusive drinks actually ended at 11pm, after this drinks could be bought, we never had lunch as our holiday was aimed at maximizing the sun and beach.

The Hotel is directly on the sea with some ( limited ) sun loungers right in front of the ocean, there is no beach ( which is a pity ).

There are many sun loungers around the large pool in the hotel and there was always something free although we preferred to walk a few km's to the sandy beaches close by.

Back to the hotel, the food was always pretty good although catered for the masses, like a canteen.

The pool bar area and reception were the only places to find wifi, wifi was not available in the rooms.

The amimation groups provided a lot of entertainment for young and old alike, there was always something to do at the hotel.

Location, not really ideal for us as mentioned we really expected a sandy beach at the hotel and some shopping around, we found some really good beach bars ( Taverine's ) along the beach which provided drinks and snacks at very reasonable prices. Actually we frequented these more than the hotel where we had everything free, so in future would really consider paying all inclusive, so depends if you are interested in staying at the hotel pool all day or exploring.

Our room was pretty nice, bed was fine, flat screen TV, nice bathroom with bath and shower & we had a balcony from which we could see the sea in the distance :-)

The hotel was very clean, the staff very helpful, food ok, drinks good, except the shutting of the service at 11pm, catering for children seemed great, although not really what we were looking for, so next time as a couple who want sea and sun and to explore we would choose a different option.

Room tip: Depends on what you want, with kids I would say rooms by the pool and if couples I would suggest closer to reception.

Good hotel with nice and friently people.Wheelchair accessibility in all areas of the hotel except the beach. Wheelchair accessible room. Breakfast nice but dinner below medium. Beautiful garden.
No free Greek tv in the room during Olymbic games. If someone wanted to watch Olymbics in the free Greek state tv he/she had to go to the reception bar (and order a drink propably)...After Olymbics finished suddenly free Greek state chanels were available in the room.
Also complete lack of mobile signal and internet in the room. No wifi in the room also but only in the reception area and the pool.
