Located just over an hour from Gdansk, the concentration camp is easily accessible by bus, which is comfortable and air conditioned. It is free to get in, however, there is a donation box available, which obviously assists with the upkeep of the premises.
As you would expect it is a somber place that you cannot help but be moved by. Staff in the visitor centre will provide you with a map so you can navigate your way round. For a small charge you can view a movie that restarts about every 30 minutes and I would suggest that you look at this first if possible. It is eerily peaceful, which is obviously in stark contrast to the atrocities that took place there.
Although there are toilets available there are no food or drink facilities on the premises.More
