What a find by my wife. Quite honestly the best holiday we have had.
The guest house is beautifully situated close to the small harbour of Suduradj , this where the ferries dock. The rooms are clean and the bed comfortable. The shared terrace overlooking a crystal clear sea and other islands and the mainland, a fabulous bonus. Bathing is possible just metres away, but wear swim shoes as it is rocky and urchins lurk. There is a small urchin free shingle beach 200 mts away along a path. Close to the harbour.
Our host and hostess Zdravko and Kate are the nicest of people and they can cook a fine meal. Order a meal from them and there is nothing better than sitting on the terrace watching the sun go down, eating real Croatian food ( the veg is grown by Zdravko himself) with a glass of his own wine, which is very nice. Help yourself to a glass anytime along with his amazing brandy liqueurs, again homemade.
Sipan itself is a haven of tranquillity , Suduradj is small yet has a few very decent bars come restaurants, all good. There is a small grocery shop where you can buy essentials but order bread the day before as it arrives on the morning ferry.
Take a bus to Sipanska Luka about 5k away and enjoy another beautiful little harbour, a bit bigger than Suduradj and a with more bars and restaurants again all of a high standard. No thumping music to annoy.
As a base , the Guest House is perfectly situated , not too far away from everything but far enough to seem your are on your own. We are talking a five minute walk max.
As for the emergency ? Unfortunately on my penultimate night I fell and fractured two ribs, Zdravko took control and organised a doctor immediately and I ended up fairly rapidly in a water ambulance to Dubrovnik hospital. He then helped my wife obtain all the details for my travel insurance , walking her twice to the Island clinic to sort out matters. A true gent.
Cannot wait for next year to see him again and thank him personally. A caring and lovely human being.
I owe you Zdravko and Kate.
