A lovely place full of Norwegian folk tale charm, where you can follow the paths of Peer Gynt and Kristin Lavransdatter (on nicely groomed ski trails). Charming old (ours--1792!) but very comfortable cabins, and friendly, helpful hosts--both of whom have lived in the U.S.--both excellent cooks. The food is beautifully presented and prepared local and regional dishes--delicious! Skiing: great! Wood fired sauna: hot! Sleeping, listening to the howling wind: sweeps you away to a fairytale time in a faraway place. We're already planning a return, and bringing friends next time.

With an exceptional location, excellent food and a lovely family who owns and put their life into this mountain lodge at the edge of one of Norways´ most beautiful national parks makes this a mus seet on your 2 week trip to Norway.

The new years eve buffet: Graved moose/elk, reindeer, trout, salmon and other homemade game. That was the best meal I´ve eaten..

The service was very kind and helpful, the cabins were very nice, the nature was fantastic and the food was... absolutely superb! Even good connections for them without car (train from Oslo to Otta and then bus to Høvringen).

We fell in love with Brekkeseter the moment we saw it. And our feeling became stronger when we walked in to the cottage we would stay in. With our 9 months old daughter we stayed for two nights and we enyojed every moment. When we looked out the window the first morning two sheeps was eating their breakfast just outside and when we walked out the cabbin a horse stood by the door. Our daughter was fascinated by the animals and we by her. It was a lovely stay with wonderful nature and great view.
We had our own food but once we ate at the hotel restaurant. It was a wonderful dish and service!

A great place to go for mountain hikes, horse back riding, mountain biking, great norwegian traditional locally produced food, great service and the best of atmosphere. Nice place for families as well as couples or singles, larger groups or even business events. Yoou can stay in rooms in the hotel part or live comfortably in the old traditional houses on the area, all fully with bedrooms, bathrom and combined kitchen and sitting room. You can make your own food for all meals or join in at the dining room at the hotel - you decide on short notice. Service is great and with a nice familiar tone, as the whole family is engaged in running the business.
Suited right in the middle of the sentral parts of norwegian mountains, you can go hiking to official mountain cabins and follow official routes all seasons of the year, on foot, horseback or skiing. When you get back, take a refreshing bath outdoors or may be a visit in the sauna...
Come and enjoy for yourself - it is well worthwhile. You will want to go back again and again, just like me and my family.
