Our very enjoyable first visit to Langholm and the surrounding area was enhanced by staying at the lodge. Apart from being very convenient to all local points of interest the accommodation had everything one might need for a relaxing break. The owners were very helpful and we certainly hope to return. Had enjoyable first class meal at the Eskdale Hotel next door.
We arrived at this beautiful lodge. It was like stepping back in time but with all modern amenities, Set in the center of town. No noise at all, friendly town and al I can say is it is like going back to the old days when, people spoke to each other face to face rather than on the phone. The walks are brilliant, we did not use the car once. You must check out Betty home bakes and the butchers they are both great shops. Also take a walk around the big store it sells everything you could need apart from food. The lodge is fully equipped and spotlessly clean. It has all you can need the kitchen is a pleasure to cook in and has a large dining table. If you dont want to cook there are many great places to eat. Dont miss this lovely place.
Wonderful property, beautiful decor, immaculate, comfortable, relaxing and right in the heart of Langholm.
Everything you need is there. My family loved it.
We will definitely be back.
It's so special to be in a historic, landmark property. Convenient for all the sights and amenities.
We stayed in Thomas Hope Lodge at the end of August and found the house to be absolutely fantastic, the owners had thought of everything that you could possibly need, it was very clean and tidy when we arrived with the added bonus of wine and chocolates! Would definitely recommend!
This is a charming and comfortable house, set in the lovely Borders town of Langholm, and has been upgraded to a high standard. It is very clean, with new shower room (en suite) and bathroom. The beds are extremely comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. Good choice of eating places in the town.... especially the Douglas Hotel and Zara Continental, an Indian restaurant. Also, check out what's on at the Buccleuch Centre during your stay - this local theatre has a varied programme and is worth a visit. There's lots to do within an hour's drive - we visited Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott in one direction and the Lake District for the day in the opposite direction.
