We had a lovely night here after spending two nights in Chennai. We got a private car from Indira Nagar (Chennai) for 2000INR. We could've taken a train, as the motel is quite close to Katpadi Junction.

The staff were exceptionally helpful, and organised our onward trip by way of taxi to the station.

The bar downstairs was very plush. It was well appointed and great snacks were served with our extra cold beer.

The restaurant serves excellent Tamil cuisine, and the staff were very accommodating in that they set up a single table for us on the unused balcony - fantastic views of the city at night from a grand height!

The rooms were very large, had good facilities, good beds, fridge, hot water, AC/Fans, good room service. They were relatively clean. WIFI was available in the reception area.

This motel was very close to centre of Vellore, and only a short ride to the Golden temple, Fort, and main shopping district.

A very nice stay.

Room Tip: WIFI in reception only (in Jan 2015); get a room with a street aspect for the best views of the city.

Very bad staff.we booked AC room for four days. But we got non AC room for the first day and they didn't refund any money.
After fourth day we asked whether it is OK to keep our for few hours.then the guy in the reception said it is OK..but after coming to pick our bags..they asked us to pay extra one day..they threatened me to pay and finally I had to pay because I had to catch a train.

So folks, please don't stay here..most terrible experience in life

Dear readers
We had our worst experience at this hotel. Staff are non-chalant. Ms Jayanthi who took our advance booking on the phone and insisted that we pay advance at HDFC bank account was absent when we visited the place.
1. The reception team - Sendhil, Kuberan - complete dumbos - who took 4 hours to confirm that we had paid our advance two weeks back. Can you believe that to check their account they asked for our bank account number and passbook? If Ms Jayanthi was absent, does it mean there are no records? We had even sent an Email but the reception team was completely blank.

2. Vellore being a business district, lots of single men come, drinks are served in the night, leftovers are left outside the room and it takes 10 hours to clear those plates.

3. Toilets are terrible. You will puke. When we asked for hot water connection, it came after 15 minutes, but did not know that hot water is also available in the faucets, so I ended up scalding/ burning my anus.

4. Toilet flush not working.

5. Rods in the bathroom rusted, so you cannot hang towels.

6. No soap/ paste was provided. Even towels had to be demanded.

7. Everyone in the hotel wants "bakshish". They pester you. No empathy.

The only advantage is that it is in the main road near the highway; service in aryas hotel next is terrible - if you ask for chapathi, you get puris.

Arunachalam is the only guy who made sense but he can't do much if hotel maintenance is bad. Cats roam around on the corridors in the evenings and nights and I believe that cats taste the lunch and dinner first before it is served to guests.

Atrocious rates for lunch, snacks and tea/ coffee. Vellore is not Kodaikanal that you charge Rs,25 for half a glass tea/ coffee.

Security guards a real real pain as they keep demanding money all the time.

Pillows and bedsheets smell. Don't know what single males who stay in the hotel do at night that bedsheets stink so much.

Not for family visits... it is risky.

Food is ok. If there is no other option, you can manage to stay for just 1 day.

The reception staff ask us - where is vellore fort? Is there a temple inside fort? etc etc. That shows common sense is so uncommon here.

Room Tip: Take rooms on the second floor but lock the rooms or else cats will give you company in the night on your bed
