“Great value”
Reviewed 21 April 2012

The good: (1) wonderful kids club with superb, kind, friendly, patient staff - the reason we chose this resort and it met all expectations, (2) fantastic accommodation - very spacious and in great condition, (3) mostly very friendly staff - especially Stefano at the restaurant, (4) nice breakfast and good food.

The not-so-good: (1) it was not not possible to swim in the sea from the resort - the beach is artificial and the sea is a lagoon and has greenish-brown foam and sludge and detritus all along the water's edge due to the way the water gathers and the outlet of fresh water from the mountains nearby. You can take an hourly shuttle to a public island only 10 minutes away, but the lack of a nice beach at the resort is noticeable. (2) the pool, although sleek and stylish, is not very child-friendly as the sides are very rough, as is the bottom - after one hour on the first day, our children's toes and wrists were actually scraped enough to be bleeding. That said, most children seemed to be managing - perhaps ours just have particularly delicate skin (3) Although many members of staff were very kind - especially the manager Ivan who put great effort into trying to resolve the various problems that cropped up - service was spotty - e.g. one day it took 3 phone calls and nearly 3 hours to sort out a leaking dishwasher.

One tip - the kitchens in the unit are great and you can order groceries before you arrive, but ask them to send you the grocery list they have pre-printed in advance. Otherwise you will end up with a 2 kilo packet of cheese and industrial sized jars of mayo, vinegar, etc. Also, the little shops on site are very small with very small offering, so you do need to bring most of what you need.

The amenities at this resort are truly superb. We had arranged a 2 bedroom apartment and were upgraded to a 3 bedroom the size of a villa with all the features one needs - such as an (almost) fully equipped kitchen, large living indoor and outdoor, DVD player and 4 large LCD screen TVs (one in each bedroom), WiFi, 2xday housekeeping, plunge pool and with sea views one side and golf course the other. As residents we had a discounted rate with breakfast and golf included; and bringing our own supplies from home also contained the costs. The Kids' Club was excellent and the staff were very capable and also came to babysit in the evening. The Omega restaurant had a fine selection of courses and an very good breakfast with special features such as pancakes for the children in the shape of a Miffy and Mickey Mouse! The golf course with cart included with an excellent GPS system was world class and with challenging features such as burns and walls. We went by bicycle to Four Seasons one afternoon and whilst pleasant were unable to see why the hype about the amenities - especially when the drink choices around the pool were so limited. Anahita Resort by comparison is more intimate and has a nice village feel. We took the complimentary boat trip one morning to Ile des Cerfs and this is a must - the children loved the smooth ride and the beach by the lagoon with beautiful white soft sand and clear water. The added bonus of our stay was the magnificent fireworks display and music show shared with the guests by the host of a private party! We would recommend this resort, especially for families with small children, but having previously stayed at the Telfair would rate their service, villa and amenities, Chateau dining, golf course, beach and water sports ahead of Anahita the Resort. Our criticisms have not dropped the 5 point rating but nonetheless are small but irritating details such as having to request spoons, kettle, coffee maker and tea towels; and it is very counterproductive and mean spirited not to supply dishwasher tablets (they said go and buy them!) proper tea towels, scourer or dishcloth in the kitchen. The bathroom products were mediocre and that was disappointing as the website photos made it seem they had quality soaps etc so we did not bring any! Check your expensive "mini-bar" products and fridge on arrival as well, as we had a half opened bottle of Italian mineral water left behind which no one wanted to take responsibility for.

Room Tip: With small children ask for a ground floor near the village and make sure on arrival that you are fu...

This has probably one of the best junior kids club in the world. The accommodation is also as good and generous as anywhere else. For some reason, staff appear demotivated. If management could crack this, the service levels would rise to a level that is on a par with the other elements of this resort.

Great place for family, golfers and sea lovers!
Great suites, 1,2,3 rooms fully equipped with sea or golf view.Good maintenance! Do not know any place where you can walk to your golf game ,no shuttle necessary . Els Course one of the best, driving range with balls as many as you want. Personal was polite, professional.
We checked out the Four Seasons, Food and service was not up to the Four Season standards, comments: come back tomorrow we pay you a free meal... some of my family members having worked with Four Seasons could not believe it.
Food ,presentation and attention (sometimes a bit slow) in Anahita was comparatively better.
can only recommend this resort.

Reviewed 21 February 2012

We just finished 2 weeks of vacation in Mauritius. first week in the Telfaire and second week at the Anahita. We are a family we 2 kids (3 and 6) and are playing golf. . I think it's important to describe what you are aiming for to understand a review.

The very good.
- Hotel Style, location and garden are very nice. It's spread over a large area so you have to do some walk but also you dont have the feeling of crowd.
- 2 rooms Suite are very nice and biiiiiig which is good with 2 kids. You feel home. It's more like an appartement that a room. excellent quality and seems new. Complete kitchen, so you can sometimes cook for the kids. We had a cyclone alert and had to stay in the room for one day. Great to have a big, well furnished room in this case.
- Terrace with swimming pool are great.
- dinner are usually excellent at the main restaurant. A special Menu is changing every evening. food price are high and menu are too expensive in our opinion. Some Staff member are excellent and are really taking care (thanks Denis and Yogen), some other need to improve. They were very nice with the kids. Usually restaurant is not too crowded but maybe the hotel was not fully booked. Restaurant is not big so I m wondering how they are doing this with a full hotel. The terasse is great because it's on the sand, good feeling.
- Hotel is Very Close to L ile au Cerf, One of the nicest beach on the island. A boat shuttle is brining you there each hours for free. Great if you want a nice sea as the beach at the hotel is not the strongest part.
- golf course is amazing, nature is beautiful, stunning vue on the sea. Golf was included in our room price (cart were also for free) and the service at the golf was just excellent. Practice is very good too. Was not too crowded.
- The Bar is very nice and drinking a beer with feet in the sands is a great feeling.
- Pool is very good for small kids. it's going slowly down and has multiple level. because of the way the pool is done having kids is not necessarily disturbing the gest who want some quiet time.
- Kids club is excellent and they really take care of the kids and playing with them. Our kids loved it.

The Good
- Beach and sea are ok but you can find a lot better on the island (sometimes missing the clear blue water, but you can see it on the horizont.

To Improve
- not a lot of long chair next to the "kids" swimming pool.
- give card to customer so they can get and return towel as tehy are doing in other othel. This will avoid the chairs with towel but nobody on it and nobody knows if its free or not.
- a second restaurant would not hurt (yes you can go to the four seasons restaurant if you want, just take the shuttle). Menu Price are too expensive.
- Service is not the best for such an hotel (for example Telfair is a lot better). The team at the reception was not really as nice and attentive as at the telfair. No one is looking after you during your stay. You dont have the same feeling as at the telfair.
- Missing a real SPA.

Overall we had a excellent stay at the Anhita but there is a high price for this. Certainly one of the best hotel on the island, specially if you can get a good price on some website like Ebookers. The week before we were at the telfair.
We will certainly come back to this hotel if we can get a good price for the room. A great hotel for Kids, golfers and people who like to have a big and very nice room. Service is to improve.
