Called in for lunch with my family. the food was ok - ish. Didn't have all of the food that we wanted -they wouldn't serve the fish that two of the party ordered because "it didn't look nice", offered plaice instead which neither of them enjoyed. The other meals were ok but nothing special, child's pizza was garlic bread with sliced tomato and grated cheddar and the "orange boats" did not appear.
The restaurant was cold, and the toilets even colder. Don't think I will rush back/

Warm Welcome

We popped into the Poachers Pocket after an afternoons sledging on the nearby hills.

The children were soaking wet/freezing and were instantly attracted to the massive open fire, which was blazing!!!

I must comment on the friendly warm manner we were greeted by on arrival at this pub/restaurant nothing was to much trouble, for the attentive staff who suggested putting a couple layers of the kids sodden cloths onto the radiators while they warmed up with tea’s and chips!!

Obviously as other parents will understand half the battle of going out anywhere with kids is keeping them happy and entertained (board games in abundance/park for less snow covered days) then who knows when the adults are car free/carefree you may have the opportunity enjoy 3-4 drinks rather than 1-2 stressful ones!!

Fantastic unplanned afternoon at the Poachers Pocket

Came for lunch with my husband and little boy. Service was very quick. But the food was dreadful. Chips burnt. Children’s pasta was a ready meal, with oily garlic bread. Ham sandwich was mustard overkill!!
Table was dirty and floor covered in other people’s food.
Won’t be returning!!
