Stayed for two nights in this wonderful hanok - an old-style Korean house-turned-inn. Wonderfully scenic, like you're staying in a movie set. It's small - I think 7 or so rooms - with a little courtyard. The furnishings are sparse, as is traditional - a TV, a dresser, a little table - and you sleep on the floor with pretty Korean futons, pillow, bedding and blankets. Very comfortable!

Modern toilet and sink in bathroom, with typical Korean-style shower (i.e. the modern showerhead is handheld, and the entire bathroom is sort of a shower room, with a large drain in the floor). Breakfast is included - a light meal. There's a water filter and cups in the courtyard, with free coffee. Other welcome modern touches - strong air conditioning and good WiFi!

The owner was wonderful - very friendly, gracious, and accommodating - speaks Korean (of course) and also English. Convenient location, right on the edge of the touristy hanok village - you don't need to taxi anywhere unless you want to venture further out into the rest of the functioning normal city of Jeonju.

Room Tip: Shoes off - leave them on the ground when you enter the raised house!

Thank you for your detailed description about my hanok stay.
It surely will help my other guests to understand how the guest house looks like.
I am so pleased to hear that you spent great first experience in traditional Korean house.
I wish you enjoyed your trip in Korea. And thank you for sharing!

If you are visiting Korea one of the places you must see is Jeonju Hanok Village. It is well worth spending a couple of days there to sample the food, get around all the arts and crafts shops, museums and above all the Jaman Mural Village nearby. All of these are within easy walking distance of Asahwa1944, a traditional Korean Hanok (house) where you will be made very welcome and well looked after.

The rooms traditionally very sparsely furnished (ie no tables, chairs or beds) but you get to sleep on magnificent Korean rugs laid out on the floor. The owner (Kim, HyunJeen) speaks English and French and can give all sorts of advice on what to do and see. She really does go out of her way to make you welcome. Breakfast can be served in your room or on the step just outside it where you can relax in the beautiful tree- filled courtyard with its wonderful water feature.

This really is a place to enjoy Korean culture, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Room Tip: No need - all the rooms are very similar.

IDear Mr. And Mrs.Hewitt
You are very welcome.
Mr and Mrs Hewitt is very beautiful couple. When this couple came back from sightseeing, they read books in the yards. They left room without leaving any dirts. No waters left in the shower. They are best visitors!
Thank you for leaving a good comment Mr and Mrs Hewitt!

We really enjoyed staying here. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was furnished with silk Korean bedding and a lovely paper screen. The garden courtyard was very pretty, though a little muddy at the time we visited. Overall, a perfect and atmospheric place to stay in Jeonju.

About one year was passed !
Usahwa was changing little by little.
The name was done to Usahwa and the courtyard was widened.
The amount of love received from guests also much was increased.
Thanks you for the grace.
Drop in my place if you come again to Jeonju
Have God's Grace !
