What a wonderful place. We were on a 2 week trip through Germany and spent 3 nights here and wished we had more time. At check in they greeted us and led us to patio where they gave us champagne and snacks as we filled out paperwork. Rooms were very clean and everyone was so helpful. Would highly recommend it to anyone.....make sure you go to the roof top Terrance it had beautiful 360 views of the town.

Room tip: . My 70 yr old parents came with us and had their own room. You couldn't go wrong with either of them.

From the moment we rang the bell at the front desk until check-out, everything was perfect. The breakfast had everything that we could imagine, including a juicer and the best soft boiled eggs (my favorite), and wonderful freshly brewed coffee. We stayed here and made day trips to other cities (Basel, Freiberg, Strasbourg, etc) to visit Christmas Markets. One evening we arrived late and hungry, they actually served us food from the restaurant in the bar...and it was delicious. The Chef made it a point to speak with guest at dinner as well as breakfast, and even gave us a small jar of his homemade raspberry jam to bring home. Jonas waited on us several nights in the bar area and was very helpful and fun to talk to. the Hotel provided the perfect ending to our 2015 visit.

Stayed one night to visit the Christmas market.
Very nice hotel centrally located. A little difficult to drive to when the market is running and parking can be a bit of a struggle but the hotel helped out.
Lovely modern rooms and a nice feel to the hotel.
Restaurant was fully booked so ate at one behind hotel which was basic but very good.
Breakfast was ok

A lovely hotel that I cannot fault. Excellent location and close to the train station. Staff very friendly. I would recommend anyone coming to the black Forrest to do a day trip from Gengenbach to Freiburg. We stayed in Freiburg for 3 days - 2 days too long.. Ps the free cakes in the bar area of the hotel are amazing, best apple pie ever!!

Enclaved in the beautiful German town of Gengenbach, Die Reichsstadt restaurant was a wonderful discovery.
The menu is very well balanced and the food is prepared and presented to perfection. With German and international food choices, the menu also comes in English..
If you are looking for a bast amount of choices, this is not your place but there are at least 4 entrees and also four fish and four meat dishes. I did not have dessert so can't comment but there were six to choose from.
The prices are very reasonable for the high quality and their generous portions. A three course menu, which amounts to an entree and two main courses was 48 euros. Another choice was an entree, one main course and one dessert for 37 euros.
Frau Brigit Neumale was serving all 6 tables and somehow managed to do a perfect job with perfect waiting time in between dishes.
A memorable lunch. Will go back as soon as possible.
