“An amazing place to stay”
Reviewed 5 September 2017 for a stay in August 2017

Like lots of people when I visit a place like Cornwall I expect to stay beside the sea, however we had a family wedding in the village and this led us to find this gem of a property! The village has a good pub a few minutes from the property, as well as a small shop and PO. Waitrose at Truro is about 15mins away by car. The property is tucked away off the main road, next to a small park. You approach it by a small private road, so it is lovely and peaceful. Then you get to see this wonderful house (well I guess it is a bungalow as there are no stairs), I was amazed, the photo's really don't do this property enough justice. It is much bigger than it looks and the decor is fantastic, you cannot believe the attention to detail with the Art Deco styling. Lovely big kitchen with everything you need, plus milk, juice, prosecco and a cream tea! We hardly wanted to leave but when we did it turned out to be the perfect base from which to visit both coasts and everything in between, who needs to be in a small cottage with no parking on the coast! Robert the owner was a star also, so very helpful.

“If you are looking for something slightly different, this is it.”
Reviewed 28 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

The property took us to a classic period in time that just made staying here so enjoyable. We loved the touch on our arrival of complementary sparkling wine, fresh fruit and scones with clotted cream and jam making it the perfect introduction to our stay.
The kids enjoyed the play area next door as well as spotting the morning rabbits on the lawn and the ducklings on the lake.
As a location it was perfect for us with access to both north and south beaches an easy 20 to 30min ride (Westgate Bay 20mins on more than one occasion) plus many other attractions so easy to get to.
For those like us now living in London, yes their is a Waitrose, on the way to Truro, which is only 10min drive and with The Cornish Store attached (best bread and aged steaks ever!)
Thanks Robert for such a wonderful stay

What a beautiful place to stay in. The attention to detail of the art deco interior is amazing! We had a lovely weekend and there was plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 children and 2 dogs. The recreation ground next door is an added bonus for children.

“Cornish Art Deco Heaven - And It's Dog-Friendly, Too”
Reviewed 2 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

We first became aware of this gem of a property last summer when we were looking for a last minute dog-friendly holiday let in Cornwall. Although the location wasn't right for us then - for the summer we wanted to be closer to the sea - we liked the look of it so much that we decided to book it for a short New Year's break. And we're so glad that we did!

The small village of Ladock is pleasant and well-situated for walks in the countrside and drives to nearby places of interest. It also boasts a friendly pub which serves decent food and was, with its roaring fire and pretty Christmas tree, a cosy place to be on late December evenings. That said, it was the Filter House itself that made our visit so special.

Robert, the incredibly helpful owner, has done a magnificent job converting this old water treatment building into a sumptuous Art Deco space that Poirot would feel at home in. Every care has been taken to make the spacious accommodation comfortable as well as stylish. As great fans of the Deco period, we were wowed by the many original furnishings and fittings including fabulous lights and lamps, an extraordinary electric fire which has been brought in line with modern safety standards and magnificent Deco dressing tables and wardrobes.

I loved the whole place but my favourite rooms were the living room with its fantastic attention to detail, and the pink and black bathroom with its enormous bath tub.

Robert's welcome was pretty special, too. He greeted us on arrival, gave us a brief tour and then left after telling us there were some provisions in the fridge. These turned out to be a bottle of Prosecco, four scones, a pot of strawberry jam and a large tub of clotted cream. He'd also provided some milk and tea so we had all we needed to settle in very nicely!

For those that like their privacy, the house is ideal as it is neatly tucked away yet the village centre is only a couple of minutes walk away. And the garden is enclosed, making it very safe for dogs and children to enjoy. The patio also looks inviting but we didn't linger there this time due to the weather.

To summarise, the Filter House is a brilliant place to stay, especially if you are fond of Art Deco styling. We will almost certainly be back!
