The cottage is perfectly lovely; the setting is gorgeous; and William made sure we were very comfortable.
I spent a month at Pat Mors, among the breathtaking mountains of Connemara. The cottage is a cozy home-from-home, away from the hustle and bustle, and the perfect antidote to stress. Rustic, yet fully furnished and with modern conveniences, it is like stepping back to a quieter time. William is a wonderful host who takes great pride--rightfully so--in the properties (including the adjacent Top House cottage) he has so lovingly renovated. Pat Mors is well located for access to all the region's access.
This year it’s the fifth time we stayed at Pat Mór’s Cottage.
Each time has been an unforgettable experience: once you arrive at the cottage it’s a sort of homecoming. You’re welcomed by the warm atmosphere of the cottage which has been renovated and brought back into the authentic state. Very soon ‘you’re away from it all’
because the tranquility of the place is so different from our present day life.
The surroundings is breathtaking: wild moorland, large lakes, impressive hills, marvelous beaches and rocky cliffs; the house is ideally situated to explore all this, whether on foot, on bike or by car.
If it rains, (it sometimes does), staying inside is a treat in itself: there’s plenty of wood to put into the stove, a cd-player, books and a WIFI-connection.
The house is fully equipped with a double bedroom downstairs and a double and single one upstairs.
Last but not least, the man that rebuilt this unique cottage, William, is a most welcoming person who can give you all the information you need about exploring the region.
The sad feeling we always have while leaving, is soothed by the idea of coming back.
A cosy log fire in a welcoming warm cottage greeted us at the start of our short four day break. The cottage provided a great base for us to explore the wonderful wilds of Mayo.
The cottage was so compact and homily , plenty of room for two adults and a dog with extra bedrooms (upstairs ) for a couple of more people ( little people not leprechauns ! ) - the heating was great especially the well supplied log fire and the electric shower was sheer joy.
The weather was a bonus and the four dry days were a veritable heatwave by Irish climate standards. There was much to see and the scenery was , as always , stunning.
William (the proprietor ) met us on the first day to share some tips on sight seeing etc but then we had total and absolute privacy for the duration of our stay and we would definitely love to return in the not too distant future with friends .
