Tahra as a great place in kinghorn, a very spacious apartment with small little side garden, her place is on the first floor, two bedrooms all nice and clean, lovely welcome with a doggie, very pet friendly place, if you have children too, lots of games toys etc provided....a one min walk to a small beach, and in july sometimes you can find yourself and your doggie have the beach to yourself, one mins walk to train station, this is a fab place to explore what fife can offer you, as kinghorn is very small with a few shops only so you do have to travel to get more out of your holiday , overall Tahra as a nice cosy place.
Lovely place to stay. Very homely. Nice bottle of bubbly for us and nice nibbles for the dog. Close to local sights and owner popped in to check we were ok. Highly recommend.
We spent a great week at the Nethergate in May 2017, which served as our home base for a variety of day trips to Edinburgh, the Lomonds, Rannoch Moor, Glen Coe, Loch Lomond, etc. (While Edinburgh and the Lomonds are little more than 30 minutes away, the other destinations are further afield but if you're happy to spend some time driving and viewing the Scottish countryside that way, you'll still manage with plenty of time to explore the above spots on foot once you arrive.)
The house is welcoming and cozy, the perfect atmosphere to relax and recover after a long day out hiking in wind and weather. With wine and scones on the counter to greet us upon our arrival, the kitchen is equipped with everything we needed to prepare relatively simple meals. The dining and living rooms are equally well equipped, with books, games and DVDs for things to do when the weather isn't cooperating. The internet connection is fine, too.
The local facilities are relatively good. There are two smaller shops just around the corner and a much larger supermarket a few miles down the road. Kinghorn railway station is just across the road (but not that we really noticed in terms of noise), there are a couple of restaurants and takeaways in town and two barbers/hairdressers, too. The only difficulty we had was finding somewhere locally to print our boarding passes to avoid Ryanair's check-in fee.
Finally, Tahra and John proved to be super friendly and accommodating, always ready with information and tips, and understanding in the face of a couple of minor crises (not at all of their doing). We'd happily recommend the Nethergate to anyone looking to visit Edinburgh and surrounds but doesn't want to stay directly in the city, especially those travelling with pets.
We booked the Nethergate for a trip to visit our children who live in Dundee and Edinburgh. We were pleased to find the house very well equipped with a real family feel. Those visitors who arrive with children are especially well served with every conceivable toy and equipment provided. Being only a few metres from the harbour and beach is a added bonus. Parking is provided (with charging point for those with electric vehicles). Good facilities in the kitchen and a full sized dining room make the property's ideal for family "get togethers".
Tahra made every effort to make sure we were well installed and catered for.
In short I would thoroughly reccommend Nethergate to anyone wanting to visit Fife.
It was our second time in the Nethergate & again we really enjoyed it!
The house has everything you need & you feel at home immediately. There are lots of toys, puzzles & games for the children. No need bringing them from home.
With 28°C the beach around the corner gave us some good refreshment.
We still haven't explored everything in Fife, so we 'll need to visit again!
