We very much enjoyed staying a few days in this beautiful and carefully restored historic apartment. The main room in particular is magnificent. Our sleep was broken however by the noise of sea gulls on the roof over the main bedroom in the early hours of the morning. Also there were a number of irritating minor faults, such as door handles falling off and blown light bulbs. These were dealt with promptly when reported.
Booked via Trip Advisor rentals. No issues. An amazing fantastically restored property to stay in. Exactly as the pictures showed. The full width middle floor room was beautiful yet cosy. Beautiful beach at Kinghorn (when the tide is out), 40 minutes to Edinburgh by car (or on train - every 20 minutes - station approx 500 yards), St Andrews 30 minutes by car and Cairngorms just over an hour, so a great location to explore from. Not many places to eat in Kinghorn itself (1 restaurant) but plenty of lovely restaurants at kirkcaldy only two miles away. A really amazing building to stay in to use as a base to explore from. Beautiful to return to on a night.
We stayed at Kinghorn Town Hall for October half term and were wowed when we arrived. The entrance itself is magnificent and the rest of the building doesn't disappoint. The building is vast and grand whilst being cosy and homely at the same time.
The kitchen was well equipped (although it may be a good idea to leave one of the cupboards free for guests food items) and the welcome pack of bread, wine (thank you!) etc was lovely. Although it's a big old building it was well heated with plenty of hot water. Toiletries/towels etc were good quality and plenty of them.
The kids loved it - they called it 'the castle' - and especially loved the 'spooky staircase'. The only negative comment I have is the (very heavy) door knobs kept falling off which is not only very noisy but could be painful if they were to land on a foot! These things are to be expected in a building of this age but probably should be looked at which is the only reason I mention it.
Kinghorn itself is a lovely little place with a handy Co-op and little tea room just a short stroll away. There is also a nice little pub / restaurant directly opposite which we didn't try but gets good reviews.
Thank you for a lovely stay - we will definitely be back.
