We loved our 3 nights, the resort was great we have 2 kids aged 4 and 6 and it worked realy well with them. They loved the pools and it was only a few steps from the beach.
The resort staff were very helpfully and arranged an excellant island trip and helped us with any needs.

Loved everything about Tanis villas and will definately be returing when traveling to Indonesia. I travelled with my partner who was there for the great surf breaks while i went for relaxation. The location foot steps from Mushroom Bay was breathtaking.
The staff were very friendly, although only two of the staff spoke English well. The Villa had the bathroom outside which was lovely because it was so hot it would be refreshing to have a shower outdoors in the heat. The breakfast included in daily rate was smaller than other hotels we'd stayed but you could order more.
Its not somewhere to stay if you like fluffy towels and five star decor. The services offered from the hotel were at very reasonable prices and always with excellent service.
The pools were lovely and food by the pool was very enjoyable.
Looking forward to returning in the new year

We loved our 6 days at tanis villas and wished we stayed longer! We have two children aged 5 and 7 and we stayed in the suite which overlooks the family pool and it was perfect. We could sit on our verandah and still see the girls easily. This place is just off the beach, literally a few steps and in the beautiful mushroom bay, easily the best place to stay on the island. The young staff are very friendly and always eager to help out in any way they can. They organised a snorkelling and fishing trip which was great, banana boat rides for the kids and hired a motorbike for us to get around all at very reasonable prices.

There were lots of families staying here while we were here which was great as our girls had friends to play with. There are two pools, one which is great for the kids with 2 shallow areas and a new pool which has just been finished more for the adults however the kids can swim in this one too.

The whole place could do with a little spruce up - new tablecloths, menus and placemats would greatly improve the restaurant. However, the rooms are great, basic but still everything we needed.

We will be back here again next year as we loved it!

Let me get something straight from the get go - I booked us here at the wrong end of our holiday...

This is a laid back place. One days sightseeing around the island then grab a good book by the pool sort of place... My girls were up for more shopping and 5 stars when we came here - this isn't that sort of place.

We took the fastboat from Sanur. It's pretty quick, it gets you there and it's another travel experience. There are some good photo ops coming and going from the launch points each end. Be aware you may get wet getting on and off as you board and get off straight off the beach both ways.

Lumbung Bali huts is cheap, Mushroom Bay is idyllic and there is a choice of about 6 good restaurants to pick from up and down the beach. Other options are a short scooter ride away as well, although the roads (!) are narrow, potholed and confusing.

The room(s) we had were adequate. We booked two side-by-side "huts" which had an interconnecting door. There was hot water in one of the outside bathrooms but not the other. Being outside bathrooms (no roofs), the fittings were clean but stained and affected by weather. One night we forgot to bring our towels inside and it rained overnight - of course this also meant the toilet paper was wet which is annoying first thing in the morning. The air-conditioning worked in one room but not the other (the opposite room to the hot water). The beds were "Bali firm" which suits some but I'm an old softy from way back. The rooms were serviced daily by the happy efficient staff. All in all, the cheap price was the right price.

The restaurant served a small range of western and indo dishes. Cooking was fine, service reasonably attentive. The range reduces depending on daily local supply. Most of everything comes over from Bali by supply boat which services the island daily.

Whilst we were there, the second pool was yet to be commissioned. It was there but it was empty - I asked why but I'm still not sure what the issue was. They were also building a dedicated hut for massage so there was some construction noise and mess in the middle of the grounds. As usual, I was awe struck by the complete lack of occupational health and safety awareness in Indo - makes watching construction projects truly entertaining in a "reality TV" sort of way.

We hired a scooter from the hotel and I rode around the island and over on to Nusa Ceningan. During our day, we were pestered by several local freelance "real estate entrepreneurs" trying to sell us chunks of the island every time we stopped. Makes a change from being offered taxis, massage and bracelets.

There are great views all over the island and particularly on Ceningan. There is no doubt this is a naturally beautiful place. I was also aware that I was on the edge of local civilization and that if I made an error, good health care was a fair way away.

All in all, I am glad we came here. I would recommend it to couples looking for an inexpensive honeymoon. It's probably not ideal, however, for families as there are limited activities for kids. For us, three days at the beginning of our holiday rather than five at the end probably would have worked better.

We stayed at Tanis Villis in May. It wasn't high season yet so it was easy to book a room the day before arrival. We stayed in the Tanis Suite which was very nice and had and open air bathroom. They were in the process of building another structure next door, but halted work during our stay. There is a second pool that is under construction as well that will have a nice view of the sea. It was a good price for what we got, and it will interesting to see it once construction is done. Unfortunately we didn't have an ocean view from our nice terrace, but were just steps away from the sand. The complimentary breakfast was one area that could be improved. The most spectaular part was the volcano view on Bali that appeared more prominently in shades of grey every evening at sunset.
