“Excellence Repeated!”
Reviewed 10 December 2011

This was our second visit to Lillydale, our first being two years ago. The whole family (kids aged 8,7 and 3) enjoyed our stay, and the hosts made us feel more than welcomed! To Becky, Pam and Doug: Hats off to you for the personal touch. We choose to stay at the Harper Room and it was spacious enough for a family of 5. And very, very clean!

We chose deliberately to use Lillydale as the basecamp for our Australia trip, stayed 6 days there and ventured out on day trips to Seaworld and Ipswich. It was much more convenient than checking in and out which we did on the last trip.

The farm was a relaxing and authentic experience, exactly what we wanted. Kids had a ball playing with the dogs on the farm too, especially with Becky's dog Tidi, a pup barely 8 weeks old! The feeding of the horses and other animals, and egg collecting, was also great fun. The owner's pride in maintaining the property helped it to look picture perfect.

Beaudessert was our stop for groceries, petrol and the odd MacDonalds. Even had a Chinese restaurant, just check opening hours!

It was just a simple quote on a magnet in our room at Lillydale, and there was peace in the valley! I rarely remember serenity quite like the experience I shared with my baby sister and my 2 year old. Yes! Serenity was to be had on holiday with a toddler at Lillydale!

Bec greeted us as long lost friends as soon as our feet touched the Lillydale grass. It was like a "welcome home". We were shown around and invited to explore the 300-odd acres of land and she even had the foresight of lending me a couple of kid's dvds for 'emergency purposes'.

my little one thoroughly enjoyed the interaction and was an 'old hat' at the animal feeding process on day 2. Ask Farmer Doug! The education was invaluable for her and I'm pleased she's had the exposure to farm life.

My sister and I shared the complimentary bottle of red in front of the bonfire before toasting our marshmallows over the coals before retiring for the evening. i

Ooh, and dont forget the tiny trek to Dinosaur Cave. Pak a picnic and spend a couple of hours inhaling the fresh air and feasting your eyes on the undulating vista.

And please, if you're considering a five-star establishment for your next holiday, may I suggest Lillydale Farmstay - under five billion stars! It was subtly extraordinary!

Situated at the Mt Barney area, Lillydale Farmstay scenic surrounding provides a relaxing environment for you to enjoy your holiday. The host, Pam, Doug and Bec are very friendly and hospitable to ensure that you enjoy every part of your stay there.
My kids simply love the horse riding lesson and the farm animals feeding. The play area with swings and trampoline kept them entertained throughout the day.
The farm is well maintained with nice clean room and dedicated kitchen area and family area for each family to enjoy their personal space.

After a 40 min drive we arrived at the farm with Mt Barney in the background and rolling hills, etc. Wonderful hosts, kids loved the place and my oldest daughter we never saw as she always looking for eggs and visiting the farm animals.. I manage to relax quite a bit and do nothing which was fantastic, the weather was also perfect. A wonderful stay, and we got a pretty good deal.. will be watching out for future deals, and hope to stay again in the future (we have to, we planted a tree and must visit to make sure it's still growing ;). Great place!

"Our family of 3 kids and grandparents had a very special time in the cabin at the picturesque Lilydale farmstay this spring. There were multitudes of interesting things to do for the whole family. My husband got stuck into taking photos of sunrise, sunset, the mountains, the dam, the animals... including the exquisitely beautiful highland cows. My mum and I mainly enjoyed the scenic walks and local exploration. As women, we managed to spend some money at the nearby alpaca farm on some delicate locally made alpaca wraps and scarves! Shame the local vineyard was closed, otherwise we could have had an experience there. My father just drank wine or beer on the verandah or the dam's gazebo against the magnificent back drop of the mountain ranges. He could have fished if he was not so relaxed! Our three kids aged 11, 6 and 4 had a great time with all the animal activites, the heart stopping tractor ride, the half grown the maze, the canoe rowing, and the bonfire marshmallows. Their favourite thing would be the horses and ponies activities. They loved the trail rides so much we went a couple of times! On the 2nd day (of the 4 nights stay) the kids already whined "we want to come back to Lilydale!!"
The hosts, farmer Doug, Pam and Bec were warm, personable and genuine. There were extra touches that made sweet memories for our stay- like getting lift in the scoop of Doug's tractor! (not part of the official activities), picking and eating berries from the white mulberry tree and seeing an owl in it as well!, the kids playing with the feisty farm dogs, and walking through and marvelling at the vision and effort of the Koala corridor... Bec was patient with the children and flexible to our plans. She understood the childrens love for the animals and told them stories about the animals which made it all more interesting for them.
I found the experience at Lilydale more enriching than the usual holidays we have been to because Lilydale has a story and I was fortunate to discover that story when I was there. That story is of Pam and her family's entrepreneurial spirit in the face of challenge. It is the story of the heart that they give to the local community and to nature. Our family will be back not just for the fun of the holiday but because Lilydale is a place with a soul. Totally reccommended. M. Nguyen"
