Nice place run by young couple. The wife is specially gracious and speaks good english. The husband cooks the delicious and rather inventive dishes. No toilets en suite but there are enough on all floors. The onsen is quite small, maybe for two people at best but the water is wonderfully hot.

Room tip: Rooms on the 3rd floor are quiet.

Its best asset is its location. Just across the road from the Kii-Katsuura station. That makes it a great jump off point to visit the three world heritage Kumano Shrines. The room are nice, clean and they have a private onsen. A great way to soak our legs after hiking up and down mountains and shrines. The staff are friendly and very helpful. We point to a picture of an attraction and they would give up directions to get there, bus schedules, bus fair etc.

Room tip: Rooms nearer to the station get better wifi reception.

Good location for passing through! Traditional tatami mats! Offered dinner and breakfast both of which we had! Dinner was amazing and different! Breakfast was very different to what we would normally have! Consisted of rice fish Miso soup and some other bits not really to our taste but lovely to have experienced it anyway! The staff were very good offered their opinion on sake, instructions on how to eat the food and spoke very good English! They had their own segregated onsen! There wasn't hotel wifi but they were very close to the public town hotspot so could access wifi from the room!

Located right next to JR Kii-Katsura station that means it's the best location in this quiet little town.Comfortable with Japanese style bedroom and free Onsen.
You can walk across the railway to the bus stop.Easy to get to the popular Kumano Nachi Taisha shrine.

Minshuku is as conveniently placed as you could get. It's across the road from the train station and a walk back across the rail bridge to the centre of town and great eating places. Reasonably priced and has an in house onsen (hot spring), but the male onsen was not that hot on the evening we were there. Common toilets and bathroom but has a small sink in the tatami floor rooms. Could be cleaner, but overall a place worth staying for price and convenience.
