We (4) spent 11 nights at Beaver Lodge in Jan '18. It was our first time to Japan and 5 years since we had skied.
From the arrival at Hakuba Base Camp - to our departure from the same place, the whole experience was great. We were met by "Matts" our Japanese host and owner of the lodge who was a fantastic support through the stay - ferrying us to whatever slope we wanted and picking us up when we were done.
The accomodation was great - tight, but perfect for a place after a days skiing. Also only 10-15 mins stroll into town to bars, cafes and restaurants - and the Onsen!
We would thoroughly recommend it and especially Matts' gracious hosting.
Stayed here for just under 2 weeks with 4 other mates on a boarding trip. Accommodation has all you needs and only a short walk from the main street Echoland with bars an restaurants, which I preferred as the background views through the snowy trees are amazing and very peaceful. The big plus is your host (Matsu), very helpfully and friendly character that will drive you to an from the ski resorts while providing advice about them, he will also take you to the supermarket so you can stock up on food and drink over your stay. Would happily stay here again when I go back to Hakuba!
Excellent location and very well presented apartment. Walking distance to Echoland and the various restaurants, and a short drive to the various snow fields. Matsubara-san (the owner) was very accomodating, and made the stay so memorable. Highly recommend staying here!
