We stayed at Jumoku House with 4 adults & 5 teenagers and it was absolutely perfect, there was plenty of space so we weren't on top of each other, the Onsen was a winner after a days skiing and only a short walk to shops, bars & restaurants, Neil and Hiroko assisted where necessary and where always helpful
Jumoku House is an amazing place. It is a huge house that would easily host 10 people yet somehow manages to feel warm and cosy. We chose it for the size of the space (which is uncommon in Japan) and the western style beds, bathrooms and kitchen. We also wanted a place that if there was no snow to ski or conversely if we were snowed in that we would be comfortable and be able spend all day in the accommodation. Jumoku House delivered on this in spades.
We ended up having great snow, and after a full day on the ski slopes we were able to come home to the steaming indoor onsen (spa/jacuzzi) and spend the night playing games, watching movies or cooking up a feast. The house is located right near the main street of Echoland, which puts you walking distance (100-150 metres) to plenty of restaurants and other shops as well as the bus stops for the free ski shuttles provided by the neighboring ski fields.
The service offered by Neil and his team were fantastic. He picked us up from the train station at 6pm at night and organised a driver to take us shopping and for a ski hire shop to pick us up and get us sorted with snowboards, skis and gear. Shopping trips were available regularly and they also dropped us off to the train station on our last day. All of this was included in the price. (other than the cost of actual ski equipment and the groceries we purchased of course)
If you're looking to ski Hakuba and want to have an amazing stay at a high-end chalet I would heartily recommend Jumoku House.
Perfect house with nice host! Definitely will come back again! Thanks Neil for the great help in organising the group for everything!
My stay at Jumoku House provided my friends and I an unforgettable experience. Neil was a 5 star host that was willing to respond to any issues we had during our stay at the house. Since our stay was before the peak season, shuttle buses were not available. Thankfully, Neil has organised free rides to and from mountains such as happo one and tsugaike, free of charge and even offered rides to and from the supermarket for daily necessities. Overall, Jumoku House is a warm, friendly and comfortable environment that fully captures what it means to have a holiday in Hakuba.
We stayed at Jumoku House in January 2016. We were a group of 8 including 2 children. We stayed for 5 nights. We loved the place so much we wished we had booked for longer.
From the time we booked the accomodation to the time we left, the owner Neil was outstanding. Having never travelled to Japan before and I had 100+ questions, and that was before we even arrived. Neil was extremely helpful and answered all our questions in detailed emails and text messages.
Having 2 children, I needed to ensure we had food available when we arrived that first night. Neil arranged for all my shopping to be done which was a blessing.
The home itself is AMAZING! IMMACULATE! GORGEOUS! SPACIOUS!
The house had everything we needed and perfectly heated. The onsen was a standout. You have to try it! The beds were super comfy too.
Neil was only too happy to arrange lifts to and from the ski fields including a lift to get fitted for all our ski equipment. Snow fields are super close!
The home is very close walking distance restaurants. (Remember to book ahead if you can for dinner - when we went it was busy at night and we couldn't get in for an early meal for the kids).
I highly recommend staying at this property and Neil will do everythng he can to ensure you have a great stay.
Thank you again Neil, it was a holiday of a life time.
