We got back yesterday from Hakuba Japan and stayed at the Yamano hotel for 8 nights. The best thing about this hotel is the owners and staff who worked there. They went out of their way to help you with anything you needed in terms of bookings, shuttle buses and information. They were delightful people. The only thing we struggled with was the size of the bathroom facilities but i understand that this was a common experience regardless of where you stayed in Hakuba. We would definitely stay there again in a bigger room.

Room Tip: I would book the upper floors

The Yamano is essentially a family run hotel with all facilities for skiers/snowboarders. Its relatively basic which is what we were looking for, but immaculately clean with a good breakfast serving to set you up for the slopes, a very short walk brings you to the first ski lifts. The hotel has a great Onsen for your tired muscles at the end of the day and the free shuttle service or the nice walk down into Happo One is a great start to your evening. The owners and staff were really friendly and accommodating, I felt welcomed, not too much formality, and I would recommend a stay.

Room Tip: Best view is onto the Olympic ski jumping area. I would recommend the higher floors.

This is a charming hotel. The rooms are spacious by Japanese standards. The food is excellent and the wifi is good. Snow conditions at this time are perfect. It just doesn’t get any better.

The hotel staff are friendly and courteous. They will pick you up and take you to the Happo 1 by arrangement. Otherwise you have a picturesque walk to the slopes.

Discount lift tickets at the hotel are a nice surprise.

Highly recommended.

We booked this hotel online as it was classified as a ski in-ski out hotel in Hakuba, but turns out to be a 10-minute hike to the Nakiyama lift at Happo-One. Nonetheless, the hotel does offer to drop off and pick up around bus terminal, lifts and train station areas. The best thing about this hotel is the friendly staff (and resident baby) and hearty dinners, if you get their half board deal. There's a neat onsen while the rooms are spacious and have all the basic facilities. Would recommend if you are looking for a relaxing ski holiday.

Lets keep it short, the headline says it all. Personally I don't like letting people know of places where I like the people so much they become life friends but this is the case again. Than again to visit Japan is an experience unto no other as most of the people are great but theres always the exception when their special. On the constructive side, the diner menu needs some attention to variety but its still decent. Breakfast was very nice rooms are comfortable and this is a small family run business thats nestled away from the screaming down under rhetoric in the village. All in all if you want quiet clean and personal service. This is probably as good as it gets. Like family. Although Gakto the head manager might not speak to you when you first meet him but he's one of those people you love at first sight. (^W^). Watch out for the wild ducks in the onsen. LOL!
