We stayed here at Echo hotel in Hakuba.
If staying in the area this is the place to be. Sensational staff who go out of there way to help and make your staff very relaxing. Special thanks to John, Koichi son, Michelle and Elliott. Alll very friendly and helpful.
Restaurants a plenty in Echoland. But make sure to book early for reservations as the good ones tend to fill or get booked quickly.
Echoland breakfast is great with a special every day. Very child friendly and bar is also.
Will be back for sure. We left knowing we will be back.
Thanks for making our holiday one to remember.
Best ever holiday
Cheers Ian and family

We stayed at the Echoland hotel for 7 nights in early January and had a great time. The hotel is in an excellent spot in the centre of the Echoland district with lots and bars and restaurants all around it (including the Snow’d In bar accessed from inside the hotel lobby).

The staff were super friendly and helpful. A quick call from the Happo Bus terminal and they’ll come and pick you up on arrival and drop you back there when departing.

Breakfast was great with unlimited cereal, toast, juice, tea and coffee and then a hot option to choose each day. The views from breakfast on the 4th floor were great, looking over Echoland and up to Happo ski slopes.

The hotel shuttle to the lifts is fantastic. They were doing a 7:30 (to get the first lift) and 8:30 shuttle to the Happo Gondola and an 8 and 9am shuttle to Hakuba 47 resorts. Just sign up at break that morning for which bus you’d like to get.

There is no pick up from the slopes to get home but the number 3 red line shuttle from the Nakiyama slope at Happo will drop you right out side the hotel (Bear’s Cafe stop) so no dramas there. You can also get buses from that stop out to Goryu, 47 and to Iwatake ski fields so virtually no walking required. Hakuba base camp is only a 300-400m walk down the road and there you can get shuttles to Tsugaike and Cortina as well.

The hotel has a boot room to store skis/Boards and boots we felt no need to lock anything up. The hotel also has coin laundry open 24/7 if you need to wash your gear half through the trip.

Good wifi throughout the hotel and rooms have Apple TV with free Netflix. Sometimes the Netflix was slow in the evening if lots of people were on it but otherwise a nice feature to have.

Although we only had a compact room it was a decent size (fine for 2 people) and it had a large comfy bed. With the heater on the room was toasty warm but it didn’t have much room to store clothes (just a hanging rail) and nowhere to dry off wet gloves or ski clothes after a snowy day (probably one of the only downsides of the hotel). The bathroom was small (as they all seem to be in Japan) but the shower was hot and the hotel clean and tidy.

There is a free pool table in the lounge on the fourth floor with Apple TV and lounges to relax on and lovely fireplace in the reception with more lounges to relax in.

Finally a small supermarket/convenience store is located about 200m down the hill on the same side of the road for any snacks or drinks you might need.

Would definitely stay there again and would like to try out one of the self contained apartments with cooking facilities so we didn’t have to eat out each night (not that it was expensive - overall food is cheap compared to European and Australian ski fields).

Thanks for a great stay Echoland hotel - we hope to be back again.

Stuart

Nice cosy place to enjoy a visit to Hakuba . Staff tremendously helpful - everything from driving to Physio appointments to organising luggage transfers. Chalet is small but lovely and the 6 of us had a terrific time . Only one bathroom but 2 toilets and good kitchenette and generous sized fridge so we ate in every night . Simple and filling breakfast in the hotel every day and near by cafes for non skiers . The room with the double bed is smallest and the bed is tiny but otherwise all very comfortable.

We stayed for 4 nights and had a great stay. The staff are friendly, rooms are great. It was close to shuttle buses and restaurants. There were 16 of us and we all had an amazing time. Would defiantly stay again.

. As always we had a great time – ably assisted by your welcoming staff who always make us feel so important in their day. Nothing is ever a problem. The location there is just perfect – not only for the shuttle buses to the various mountains but there are quite a few new restaurants and coffee shops that have opened that the Echo Hotel is smack bang in the middle of. Perfect for tired ski legs at the end of the day. We opted to eat at the Snow’d Inn Bar one night and had a yummy Mexican finger food feast which was as simple as catching the lift to the ground floor. So convenient! Our room was perfect – we were very glad we opted for the upgrade to a bigger room with an amazing view of the mountains – great way to get us in the zone for the day. Looking forward to booking next year. All in all, we had a blast – so much snow, great service and good times. Thank you so much!

Room Tip: Compact rooms are still good but recommend slightly larger room if you are staying a little longer than a week
