Stayed at the hakuba highland hotel whilst we were in Hakuba for skiing and visiting the snow monkeys.

The hotel has incredibly helpful, friendly staff who are proficient in English. The rooms were clean and neat and we were offered a cash back option if we opted for cleaning every second day (yes please).

The hotel has a shuttle that will take guests to the different ski fields - this service operates hourly. The hotel additionally has vehicles that guests can prearrange as transport to the station and other destinations (i.e. when we went on the snow monkeys tour we were driven to and from the tour starting location).

There are laundry machines and a cute fireplace and lounge area. We loved the onsen and visited each day after skiing. Shampoo and conditioner is not provided in the rooms but is available in the onsen.

The breakfast buffet option is incredibly cheap (600 yen I believe) and has mostly Asian breakfast but also several western options

We loved every bit of our experience at Hakuba Highland. The staff was not only very helpful and sweet, they were also genuinely interested in our well being. We usually use Airbnb because we don't like the lack of personal touch in hotels but our experience with Hakuba Highland is making us rethink our view of hotels in Japan. From the reception staff to the restaurant staff, including cleaning and maintenance staff everyone was smiley, always ready to answer a question or help us book this, confirm that, etc... Mrs. Chicka at the front desk in particular went out of her way to help us and we're grateful.
Another thing we loved was the luxurious onsen reserved to guests (segregated) and the private onsen (mixed) that you need to book in advance. Also, we had never worn a yukata before and really enjoyed going about the hotel in this classy version of a bathrobe. Finally, the buffet for breakfast and dinner were a great occasion to sample new Japanese dishes and ingredients.
Also right next to the hotel there is a rental shop with ski and snowboard equipment.
The beds are a little hard but it's completely worth it! All in all, great value for money!

This place has a very nice outside hot springs. Recommend to book the mountain view room. Theres not much to do by walking distance so you have to come by car. The rooms are a bit dated and need some ugrade, but its a a stand lodge room.

Though only stay there for one night, we have a good full rest in the hotel after one full day of Alpine route. Taken the half board plan offer, having good food and enjoying the onsen, it was a fantastic experience!

I went there in re evening to have my first onsen experience, super friendly staff, great onsen. In and put door. Strongly recommend to go there for the sunset since you have an amazing view of the sun setting behind the mountains of Happo One.
