My wife had never done the snow experience. So living in Singapore Japan it was. We were recommended to Hakuba Goryu by a seasoned traveler and skier who also live in Singapore. Firstly Hakuba Gory just outside of the main town of Hakuba is the coolest village. Surrounded by beautiful mountains. For us the amazing surroundings were enhanced because of the wonderful lodge we stayed in. The Red Door Lodge is owned by Australians, a lovely energetic couple. The lodge is super comfy, the rooms clean and warm, and the WiFi is whizz bang fast. The hosts of the Red Door Lodge were incredibly helpful. They were amazing in sharing ideas and looking after all guests. Their hospitality, and courtesy were unrelenting. They were such great people and took a brilliant area and allowed us to upgrade the holiday to the Super Duper Utopia level. I cannot express myself well enough to explain how great a place and lodge it was. Just do it.

Room Tip: All rooms have snow views.

Our second time back to Hakuba and first time at the Red Door lodge.
This will now be our go to place. Went with two children 14 and 16 so it was awesome to have a room with an enormous mezzanine for them to have to themselves..They loved it... we were down stairs left in relative peace. By Japanese standards the rooms are huge! Simple, clean and modern with comfortable beds.

Chris and Nic are everything you read on the other reviews, nothing is too much trouble. Awesome night spot for the kids as Chris set up the big screen with movies whilst Nic made the adults mulled wine, truly relaxing. In the mornings, simple but lovely breakfast, then chauffeured to which ever ski area we wanted for the day( no crowded ski bus) and skied back down to the lodge door each afternoon which was always a fun!
Thanks for a wonderful stay guys.!

Chris and Nic made everything about the stay so easy, pick ups and drop offs, ski hire and lift passes, breakfast in the morning and recommendations for everything in the area. The room was lovely and the heating was very good. An all round fantastic place that we would definitely stay again.

Great hotel, friendly hosts, nice food and cozy accommodation. The hosts, nic and Chris were extremely accommodating and helpful, happily taking us to restaurants and the ski resort. Would definitely stay here again.
