Recently stayed for 4 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment (tatami rooms with ensuite) Very comfortable, great location. Would definitely recommend for a family. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Booked through Japan Snow Accommodation, also very helpful.

Stayed in a Japanese style room, for 5 nights late Feb/early March.

The staff at the hotel were very helpful, and attentive. We had no problems at all with language barriers, as the reception staff (owners?) spoke english.

The rooms were clean, and in our case seemed huge (there were ony two of us, but it could have easily fit 6 futon beds). We had no problems keeping warm, as there's a heater in the room, which you can leave on overnight.

The hotel is conveniently 5mins walk to the Ichinose Family ski area/lifts, and 1-2 minute walk to the nearest bus stops. And being in Ichinose, is centrally located in Shigakogen ski resort, so it's a great base for trying out all the different ski areas.

There's a snow rental shop downstairs, but we seemed to run into some language barriers when we payed visit, so opted to hire from another place.

There's something special about this hotel. From the great proportion of local Japanese tourists (perhaps that can be said for Shiga kogen in general); to the incredibly hot and relaxing spa; the tasty home-made Japanese food during breakfast and dinner; and the simple traditional Japanese rooms - we really were immersed in Japanese culture.

Stayed here for a weekend trip to snowboard on Kurohime Kogen. It was my first time staying at a traditional Japanese hotel and I could not have had a better experience. It is only a 2 minute walk from the slopes and relatively easy to access. The room was a decent size for 2 people and was extremely clean. There is no shower or bath in the room. However, there is an onsen on the 2nd floor which is also very clean and really relaxing after a day on the slopes. If you don't like traditional Japanese hotels you may want to try somewhere else. But if you do, you will have a great experience here.

Great Japanese style hotel. Extra futon mats in the room, so sleeping on a tatami floor was very comfortable. Clean and spacious rooms, hot showers, good food and cozy lounge area. The fireplace in the lounge area is a great place to gather with other guests, relax and meet new friends. Super close to ski areas, and free shuttle bus to take you anywhere in Shiga Kogen for guests. I enjoyed my stay and will be sure to come back!

Stayed with 46 other skiers from Tokyo (both US and Japanese Skiers). Hotel right on the slopes. You can put your skis on at the front door and ski down to the lifts. When your done for the day skiing, you can ski around from the back to the front door. Hotel is nice - convenience store, restaurant/bar, ski lockers and bench to tune skis in the hotel. Olsen (hot tub) is awesome at the end of the day. The owners speak english and are very helpful with anything you need. They even got the NFL playoffs on TV for us even though the game was on at 0500 in the morning. Nice fireplace in the lobby for everyone to rally around for drinks and snacks. Look forward to going back again next year....by the way, it snowed 12" every day on a three day trip - powder skiing at it's best.

Room Tip: They have western style rooms - you just need to ask for them. I prefer the rice matts and futons
