“Magical stay in a magical place”
Reviewed 3 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

The Old Brewhouse in Bamff was exactly what we hoped it would be: Secluded, magical and restful. The cottage is comfortable and the beds are super cosy. The kitchen is well equipped, which is important to us as we cook at least one meal a day while on holiday.

We did several walks across the estate and it is magical. Paul Ramsay also took us out beaver watching and we actually saw a beaver in the wild. Apart from the beavers, we saw a huge amount of wildlife, the variety of birds is unbelievable and it was lovely to be woken in the morning to birdsong, at night sitting in the cosy lounge we heard owls. And as my daughter put it: It's impossible to walk more than 10 metres without tripping over a pheasant.

I am very sad that I could not stay, I was ready to move in. We will be back that's for sure.

“Will definitely stay again”

My husband and I arrived for a 3 night stay and were greeted warmly by the owner who showed us around the cottage. The cottage was very cold on arrival and it would have been lovely if the heat had been turned on in preparation for our arrival. The owner didn't know how to work the heating but luckily my husband was able to work it out.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms, a sitting room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. The double room is small and anyone over the height of 6 foot tall may have an issue with the bed, my husband is 6ft 4 and spent most of the night with his feet hanging over the edge. The twin room is huge and the beds appear to be longer!!! The bathroom has a gorgeous roll top bath and what seems to be an endless supply of hot water! The kitchen had everything you would need including a small dishwasher and there is also a washing machine. The wifi whilst we were there was not great and the television signal was also not great. The driveway to the house could also do with being fixed, so do not take your sports car if you are planning a visit.
However having said all this the house is set in absolutely stunning countryside and the walks and views are spectacular. There are beaver ponds on the estate which the owners can take you on tours off or you can walk around them on your own. We will definitely return in the near future and spend more time on the estate taking advantage of the beautiful walks and views.
One point I must make was that Aileen who we booked the cottage through was absolutely fantastic in recommending local restaurants.

Thank fo your review. Many apologies for our failure to turn on the heating ahead of your arrival. This was a serious oversight on our part and doesn't normally happen. We should perhaps make it clearer that the double bedroom is small, and the double bed is only standard size and has a bed end. If you ever come back let us know that you would like the Super Kingsize option for the twin room. We can also convert the dining room to a single bedroom if more beds are needed. I'm glad you enjoyed the estate.

We stayed at the old brewhouse with the kids for a week. I can assure it is a magical place to stay. The stunning nature wich you are surrounded within makes you feel like you are in a fairytale. The accomodation has everything you need. The kids went looking for beavers pigs and roedeer. It was the highlight of our holiday in Scotland. Many thanks Paul & Louise & Aileen for your relyable service. We will be back :)

This was our second stay at the Bamff Old Brewhouse and it was every bit as good as the first.
We struggled with finding the estate the first time, however these GPS co-ordinates should take to right to the estate drive, which is then just a short drive further up, passed the wild pigs and the beaver dam until you spot the magnificent house.

From booking with ease, with great communication from Aileen to a beautiful, well equipped cottage this place should be number 1 for anyone who is visiting the area.
This self-catering cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds, and a beautiful roll top bath. Everyone we bumped into on the estate had a kind word and a smile. Our daughter who is 3 enjoyed the freedom of the open gardens, and playing on the trampoline, tree swing and slide.
A great base for travelling around Perthshire and Kinross, or just a lovely place to escape into the countryside for peace and quiet.
We will be making our 3rd booking very soon.
I would 100% rate this accommodation. Simply fantastic.
On a side note: the wifi speed is brilliant, for those that wish to stay intouch with the outside world!

“Lovely Cottage - fabulous location”

Lovely, cosy, warm and welcoming character property, well equipped and spotlessly clean on arrival, which is important to me as I don't want to spend the first few hours of my hols cleaning up someone else's mess! The booking process was handled very efficiently by Aileen and she was very friendly and welcoming on arrival. The owners, who live on site, are also very friendly and helpful, the evening spent beaver watching with Paul was the highlight of our stay. We loved seeing the wild boar, too, especially the sow with 10 little stripy piglets. We are both keen wildlife watchers and environmentalists with a strong interest in renewable energy, so the Ramsay's Bamff estate was the perfect destination for us (but it's not essential to have those particular interests to enjoy this place!). We had some wonderful walks exploring the estate and beyond, walking to the village through the Den of Alyth is a must for any visitor. I can't actually think of any negative aspect of our visit here, we were well placed for visiting local nature reserves, Dundee, Dunkeld and the Tay estuary, there are lot's of beauty spots a short drive away where one can get out of the car and explore on foot. A memorable holiday for all the right reasons!
