This former Intourist Hotel seems slightly run down from outside and in the public areas, but the renovated 10th floor is not bad, at prices around 100USD. Fantastic views on the city, the Terek River, the mosque, and the Caucasus. Friendly English-speaking receptionist. Food not to bad. Breakfast just ok.

This "sovjet style" hotel is situated in the center of town and I had a great view over the river Terek and some mountains as well. Especially I enjoyed the view of the mosque and of the small theme park.
Great plus that the room had balcony (although some furniture would be nice).
I actually liked the interior of the room, its not exactly new but well kept and charming with nice wooden floor. You can hear some through the walls but it was a quiet hotel so it wasn´t a problem.

Breakfast was ok. There is an ATM in the reception, which is very convenient. Staff in the reception were not very warm but could speak english and were efficient and professional.
I think this hotel is good value for money and I can definitely recommend it.

The advantage is its location in the downtown. I booked the high price room and it was located on the 10th floor. The room was excellent - brand new, clean and cozy. Large enough.
Breakfast was average yet basic food selection available. Wifi coverage is good and speed is OK. It's free.

The hotel has been improved since my last visit. The rooms in certain floors have been renovated and the price is related to this factor . The renovated ones are of international level and the price still very attractive. The breakfast is moderate though. Internet in WI FI is free and ask the ladies to give you a room getting strong Wi Fi signal.
The dinner in ground floor very efficient in reasonable prices.

Room Tip: Ask a nd pay for renovated rooms

I stayed here for two nights. Check in was friendly and reasonably fast. Receptionists speak English.

Every floor has a floor monitor who gives you your key. 7th floor lady was fine about allowing me to leave the room w/o handing my key to them.

My room was small with two single beds, cupboards, desk, chair, mini bar stocked with soft drinks, tiny TV, balcony.

It was reasonably clean--carpet could have done with a proper hoover job. But bathroom spotless and linen fresh and crisp. Towels were changed and rubbish emptied but my bed wasn't made. My travel companion had the room next to mine and did get his bed made though so this could have been an oversight. Floor lady did my laundry with same day return for a small fee. (No ironing.)

Curtain see through so bring eye shades as light comes in in the morning.

Fridge and pipes made a clanking noise at odd times, so good to have ear plugs.

Loads of hot water. First night room temperature was 19-21C. Next night 23C: as it got colder outside, they turned up the heat. (You can't do this yourself.)

Internet in the room is free and reasonably fast, though first voucher they gave me didn't work.

They have a pool you can swim in for 350 roubles before 1 PM. After 1 PM the price (which includes sauna) rises to a whopping 2,000 roubles!

Breakfast is included and a bit stodgie. No fresh fruit or cereal. They have cold cuts, sausages, eggs, cheese and porridge.

Overall, very decent provincial hotel.
