When we go to France we always stay in chambres d'hotes. In the past we have stayed in places that were similar or better/nicer than this one and where we paid a lot less.
The room is nice but does not justify 140 €. Bathroom could have been cleaner. Very good bed: we did sleep very well. Breakfast is good.
We had dinner there as well. Food was OK. Nothing more, nothing less. Bear in mind that water/wine are not included in the price and that they charge restaurant prices for it, while the choice is quite limited. Aperitif and coffee are included. After all we paid 86€ for dinner.
Will we go back to this place? No
Do I recommend this place? No

I had the chance to return to Manoir St Ch after a couple of years as my business brought me to the area again, and was curious to know if the place lived up to my happy memories of the previous stay.

Same friendly welcome, same well furnished comfortable room, same superb home cooking and same great value (Eu115 per night DBB including wine).

Personally I dont think this place can be bettered - having rediscovered it I plan to come back with the family in the summer.

Stayed here two nights while visiting the chateau used for Merlin TV series, and the forest where the first world war armistice and the French capitulation to Hitler in 1940 were signed. Quiet village and lots of parking.
Excellent welcome and a beautiful looking room with some style and personality with a shared balcony running across back of house, although very steep stairs to negotiate, again good in that only this room was served by them. Very comfortable and good quality bed and furnishings, although room not totally clean as would be expected for the rate. However during meals and as the kitchen cleared up, the noise and telltale smells of smoking waft up to the room.
Shame that torrential rain arrived about 2 hours after us - had time for a drink by the pool though and chat with other Brits on tour.
Then dinner - huge salmon steak with vibrant yellow (saffron I assume) sauce which had absolutely no flavour. Way too large a portion for pretty much anyone, and such slow service - had to agree an 8.00pm time (as for everyone else) but then it began about 8.40pm and took ages so we didn't have a dessert - after a long day driving and sightseeing this was not a great experience. Breakfast was limited but OK and the room charming.
Final moan - overnight the WC began to smell dreadfully - had to close up the bathroom door and not go in until could open up the french doors and the twin bathroom windows to let the air flow through.
Our hostess was so charming that we couldn't bring ourselves to discuss the faults at the time - others may be less critical it seems, but it is not as brilliant as the review scores suggest, although preferable to a chain hotel for a stopover.

My husband and I stayed for just one night on our way back from Limoges on route to the tunnel. This hotel is only 2 hours from Calais.
This little hotel is just stunning. We stayed in 'the tour' room which is in the turret and it was so beautiful and cosy we didn't want to leave. The bed was large and very comfortable.
The dinner was tasty, well cooked and served in the beautiful dining room, served leisurely on crisp white table clothes.
I just can't fault this place, from the warm welcome by the lady that helped us through a combination of English and French to the very inviting swimming pool.
We will return on a longer break next time and not just use it as a stopover. It's just too good to be a stopover - it should be a destination.

My husband and I stayed here to break our journey back to the Tunnel. What a treat we discovered in this very quiet and elegant village of Remy. The building is beautiful with its towers and it has a lovely garden and pool area. The decor is very chic throughout. The beds are so comfortable with lovely soft feather/down pillows. The shower room was great and towelling robes were supplied. Dinner is available which we booked in advance. It is a set menu and the quality was superb. The service is friendly and efficient. We also had a very good breakfast. If you like style and comfort, then you will enjoy the Manoir St Charles.
