Stopped off here for a coffee and decided to try the tortilla tapa which was displayed on the bar (under cover but seemingly not chilled). Looked a bit weird, stuffed with sort of prawns in mayonnaise but it tasted fine. We have eaten tapas from many service station cafes in the past and always found the food good. The coffee was good. The toilets were clean.
Only problem is that my husband became violently ill that evening and we could only put it down to the tortilla. I hope we are wrong but perhaps it wouldn't hurt the owners to review bar food hygiene just in case as it is rather a coincidence.

The hotel Venta is located near a national road which makes the access easy without being disturbed by the noise of the traffic. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast nice. The dinner offers an average quality with very big portions. Beware of your appetite before you order. Last advice : after having left the hotel, make a short visit in the village of Etxalar which is very beautiful.

We have stayed here several times over the past 3 years and never been disappointed. Welcoming staff, beautifully clean well appointed rooms looking out over river and woods. Superb selection of food for breakfast ranging from fresh breads, cakes, fruit, dairy produce, eggs and bacon and, our friend who has travelled with us on several occasions says - the best tortilla ever. The daily menu has plenty of choice and should suit most tastes - excellent value. The service in the Bar is excellent and friendly and there is a good selection of snacks and bar meals for those not wishing to dine in the restaurant.
We live in France and travel down to the Pyrenees for short breaks and cheap shopping - and always look forward to our stay in Venta de Etxalar and believe it would be difficult to find another hotel that could beat this one for value and comfort.

My wife and I have been using this hotel for the last 15 years or more. We have always been impressed by the welcoming manner by all members of staff, the restaurant providing local food including an extensive breakfast. On our most recent visit we had no booking and although the hotel was full, they somehow found us accommodation. We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the manager and all his team. Well done.

Stayed one night en route from Spain to France, prebooked online. When we arrived we were given a small double room overlooking the very busy main road from Pamplona to Irún. I had asked for a room in the quietest location possible and specifically one not overlooking the carretera. On complaining we were moved immediately, without argument, to a much larger, more presentable room at the rear of the hotel, with a balcony (that we had paid for) overlooking trees and a river. The double bed in this room was much larger too. The food was unremarkable, certainly not memorably good. Breakfast was in the bar and of the what-would-you-like variety: always difficult.

Room Tip: I always ask for a room in a quiet location, away from lifts, car park, overlooking main road etc but these requests are frequently ignored.
