Stayed for several nights. Enjoyed the beautiful room and the scenic view of the vineyards. Great tour of winery and sampled wine. Great food and service. We also were allowed to visit their restored church.

Room Tip: Best view and very comfortable room

The premises have great potential for a remarkable castle hotel in a top wine region. Initial impression is great. Parking easy in the seemingly well kept hotel park with nobody to help with the luggage. Reception in our case was painfully impersonal, with paperwork as twenty years ago. We were downgraded from our booking.com booking, as "hotel was full". It was, but? We made our booking months ago for superior room, were given attic standard with limited standing room for my height and a shameful size for a castle room. The only reaction of the cool lady at the reception was that the price will now be lower. Great news, 20 EUR per day difference when you travel 800 kilometers. Manager reportedly broke his leg and could not be summoned to resolve the less than joyful situation...

Even though the premises were reconstructed relatively recently by the new German owners, there are serious issues. Hot water is in short supply in peak (morning) hours, in our daughter's room only one of the two shower faucets was functional. Swimming pool was empty in the hotest late April in recorded history rather than welcoming guests of the fully booked hotel. Mini bars are locked as a house rule, you only get the key upon paying 3.000 forint for the few bottles inside - incredible and humiliating, bravo, manager! Sitting on the terrace is truly relaxing - but the view of the box bushes dilligently cut, yet in 50+% dead due to rather careless defense against box tree moth in the past year or two is saddening and unpleasing for the eye.

On the other hand, hotel restaurant (breakfast & a la carte) is remarkably good as far as both quality and price vs. performance are concerned, wine (very good key product of the premises) at cellar prices (talking 10 EUR per bottle for basic furmint, 14 for a very good one), well prepared dishes surprisingly cheap, service smiling and friendly (if sometimes forgetful about orders; and remorselessly decided to go home at the hour indicated as the closing hour). Now, they produce a solid and not very expensive sparkling wine on the premises - is it really so hard and painful for the owner to offer at breakfast a bottle or two for the approx 40 adults hotel can take when full?

Wine cellars with some quite remarkable wines the estate is making are surely worth a visit, wine tasting is properly executed. It is a major estate, mind you.

It could easily be a serious jewel in Tokaji, but some more personal involvement of the owners is mandatory to bring matters to something approaching perfection at least by far. Currently, hotel is a good three star level.

Room Tip: Avoid second floor by all means.

We only called in to eat so no idea of the accommodation but I can only imagine that it is great as the food and service was. We had at least two courses each plus some very nice wine and the whole deal was less that £80 in total, way cheaper than Budapest or any other Western city. The food and service were exceptional, pheasant with truffles, wild boar with black garlic mash, pike-perch with an amazing risotto; all difficult to describe in terms of the amazing taste. Great décor and facilities with very good staff.

Room Tip: We only ate here but amazing grounds and location

Beautiful old world restaurant in the heart of Tokaj.
Great service and wonderful food, the wine is excellent.
It is a short stroll thru the different site in Takaj but remember most of the are wine related.
