Park Hotel Marinetta
Certificate of Excellence

The staff at Park Hotel Marinetta is wonderful especially Massimo who can't do enough for you. The front desk staff is very accommodating. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms immaculate, the rates very reasonable and many food choices at the breakfast buffet. We were so happy there that we extended our stay. There are two pools, a restaurant, a children's play area, a bar at the beach and poolside and many other amenities.
The thing that was most amazing is that we saw the best sunsets of anywhere we have traveled.

We recently returned from a week at the Hotel Marinetta. We did not realise that the resort was out of season - there were positives and negatives to this. It was nice and quiet which was lovely, but there was very little if anything open in the village and the kids club at the hotel was not yet open. We hired a car for the week and were able to go out each day on little adventures discovering Pisa, Livorno and San Vincenzo. Each day we would return to the Funny pool to give our 3 year old some time to swim and have fun doing kid stuff instead of walking around shops and tourist areas.
The staff at the hotel were friendly and welcoming. Their English was good and for those whose English was not as good, I tried a few Italian words which seemed to be well received in communicating!
My husband and I took turns to visit the spa for a treatment. There was a good choice of treatments available and we were happy to be able to make reservations on a rainy day.
We booked the hotel on a room only basis. We found a few really great cafes locally in both Marina di Bibbona and San Vincenzo to go for coffee and croissants each morning. We did eat in the a la carte restaurant on 4 evenings. The food was fresh, well presented and very tasty. We didn't seem to be allowed to order a bottle of wine even though other tables had bottles bought to them, so we just had a glass or two each which was fine. It was my birthday on our last day and I was presented with a beautiful cake by the hotel staff which I was very grateful for.
The beach was lovely and the beach bar had a good choice of drinks and snacks. Our son also enjoyed the park and running through the hotel grounds.
The rooms were spacious, clean and fresh. There was a mini bar which only ever had 1 beer in it which was a shame as hubby and I had to share! It was also very sporadic in terms of when it was restocked and what if anything was put in it!!
All in all this was a fantastic hotel and we had an amazing holiday.

We were in the chianti region the first week, and stayed at the Marinetta the second week of our vacation in Italy. My husband and I wanted a place by the beach and within a one hour drive of some sightseeing activities. This was perfect. One hour to Popolunia going south or one hour to Pisa going north.
Beach and the two pools were clean and well maintained, washroom and showers by the beach for hotel guests.
Buffet dinners were varied daily. I had a Tuscan fish stew at the The Ombra della Sera Restaurant (a la carte) that was one of the best meals I had during my 2 week vacation.
Our room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable, although the walls could do with some art work. The reason I gave the room a 3 not a 4-5 was that you could hear every step and noise from the adjacent rooms. The people occupying the adjacent rooms were early risers and were awake every morning by 6:00 am. We could hear them walking, talking, chairs scraping the floor and the water running. It was loud enough to wake us up. It would also be nice to get at least one English speaking channel on the tv.
The front desk staff all spoke English but the rest of the staff spoke very little or no English at all (not a big deal since you are in Italy after all). This is a family hotel, so be prepared to eat dinner with small children around you even if you are in the The Ombra della Sera Restaurant. Overall we were very happy to have stayed there.

Room Tip: Top floor, to minimize noise from other rooms

The surroundings of the hotel are very nice and pleasant. The reception area is welcoming and light, however, the rest of the hotel could do with some refurbishment and renovation.

At the hotel there are 2 swimming pools, one for adults only and one where children were allowed, and with a bar/snack area next to it. Drinks and snacks at the bar were quite inexpensive, and the staff very pleasant, in my opinion they were the highlights of the hotel.

Already upon arrival we were a bit disappointed by our rooms. The villetta we stayed in (only 2 available for the entire hotel) consisted of 2 bed rooms and was comfortable for our family of 5, and the private terrace and adjacent green area were very pleasant and gave a feel of space. Inside was not bad and spacious enough, but cold and not very cozy. A small seating area with a small table would have been nice instead of just the big bed in the main room. The 2 rooms have a big wardrobe each, but unfortunately only with hanging space (and a few clothes hangers) but no shelves to put our clothes and properly empty our suitcases.

The restaurant is where the hotel needs to make the biggest effort. Breakfast buffet is not too bad, but the dinner is a catastrophe. All through our entire stay of 10 days, we have not had the feeling of having eaten one nice meal. Lukewarm food, overcooked, dry meat and fish, sometimes simply inedible, not much variety, and most of the time unpleasant service.

The private beach is only a small walk away through the pine forest, but also here we were disappointed, although one cannot really blame the hotel for this. The beach has a nice view on the islands across, and there are enough lounge chairs and umbrellas are available for the hotel guests. We choose to stay in this hotel as on the website it mentioned "the sandy beach" and yes, it was sandy. However, as soon as you reached by the water, the sand was mixed with many, many pebble stones which made it quite difficult to get into the water without hurting your feet. Also, there was no gradually getting into deeper, making it more dangerous for the children (my youngest got taken by a wave and got quite frightened). But once again, we can't really blame the hotel for this. Although one can question the usefulness of the 1 or 2 lifeguards present in case of a real emergency, there is no fast zodiac or jet ski to be seen, and instead of watching the people in the water they were more busy taking orders of the hotel guests for lunch, serving them their lunch, or sweeping the sand off the footbridge.

A $100 experience for a $300 price. You would think perhaps at that price we wouldn't have to pay $6 more for beach towels and maybe they could actually open the bar in the lobby - if not in July then when? - instead of having to use the pool bar with its plastic seats. Very average room - all looking a little tired. Won't be returning.
