Three generations of us stayed here last month. Spacious is the word for the kitchen/ dining area and the upstairs lounge. We loved the piano and looking through the many books. You soon get used to climbing the stairs. The groundfloor wetroom was great. The double bedroom on the second floor was lovely, with a table& chair overlooking the sea; a kneeling chair and computer desk and a whole wall of shelving. Overall the house had plenty room and space for a large family to spread out and relax. Parking on the road outside was fine; many locals parked half on/half off the wide pavement. There are buses going to Hythe and Folkestone and further afield along the road outside. Hythe has Waitrose (hurrah) and a large Sainsburys. Sandgate has lots of lovely shops and is a short walk away, on the promenade; plus an excellent mexican restaurant and a lovely fish & chips shop.
We really enjoyed our stay at 6 Gloster Terrace in Sandgate. Its a lovely old end terrace house well equipped and comfortable with fab sea views and in an ideal location to explore the wonderful County of Kent.
Parking is on the prom across the road and is free. All the rooms are clean and well furnished and the beds are quite comfortable with firm mattresses. The huge upper bathroom is of period design and a shower over the bath that works well but no handrail so caution should be observed. There is a good heated towel rail and the water gets very hot. All rooms are carpeted and have central heating throughout, excellent for those chilly evenings.
The lounge and well appointed kitchen are superb and we found having Wi Fi great for our lap top finding out local info and places to visit, well done the owners for thinking of this!
There are tons of books and a piano in the 1st floor lounge and classical and popular records and player in the dining area so boredom on a rainy afternoon shouldn't be an issue.
There is a small brick paved courtyard to the rear and though it had no tables or chairs it was handy for me as I asked the agents if it was permissible for me to smoke outside the property and they agreed, very civilised I thought! One other thing, not really important but the shower head in the downstairs wet room dripped incessantly but I'm sure this plumbing issue will be sorted eventually. Also, to be fair to people with breathing or age issues be aware that there are several flights of stairs that come with this property. Good exercise though!
All in all I would say this little gem is one of the nicest holiday homes we have ever stayed in and for what we paid in September somewhat of a bargain compared to some of the others If I may say.
